Saints knew he wouldn't be there. Loomis knows a lot more than you. You make the move when you have a player you want and you go get him. That's what happened.

Compare his numbers to Chase, Jefferson, Lamb, Smith Jeudy’s 2018 season.

He hasn’t had 1 elite season.

1100 15 TDS is good but he was a senior on the team and lost touches to Jaxon Name-Icantspell

We traded up For a complementary WR.

“He’s super fast and a great route runner” so why does he average 14.5 yards a catch the last 2 seasons? It’s not because of a high volume of catches watering it down.

Olive was the best of the top 3 receivers in my opinion!

I would have liked Williams instead. I think his speed and size downfield would have been a better fit to help MT out and take the top off the defense and give AK room to run. But Olave will be great in the system too. Just thinking long term Williams could be a #1 guy where Olave cant

Not a great argument in favor of trading multiple picks to take WR2

You guys got a stud and a great kid. Very unselfish player and extremely smart.

Underrated traits. Barring injury (knock on wood), he’s gonna walk into the league being our #2 and very polished. Williams may wind up being better, but it wouldn’t be until sometime in ‘23. But he was attached to the Saints as much as any other 1st round pick I can remember, and I think a lot of it was because they were so impressed with him as a human being.

And so many of y’all are so stupid when it comes to context. You look at his physical traits and compare them to WRs who went top 11 in prior drafts. Which matters zero. Some retard said he would only draft a DE at 1 if they were sure to be Bosas/Watts level. As if they were actually in this draft. He may not have been worthy of the 11 pick in the ‘21 draft. Or wouldn’t have been in the ‘23 one. But this is the ‘22 draft and the only things that matter are what’s relative to his peers in this class.

It’s like idiots who look at a CFB team ranked #7 for example; that team may not compare to what you have in your head as what a “#7” team should look like. But when challenged to rank 7 ahead are completely unable to do it.

And this also gives us leverage to sign Jarvis. We don’t “need” him now. We could use him and would love to have him, but he’s got no leverage to negotiate with us. I bet he signs a short, “prove it” deal with us, and we go into next season having added Thomas, Olave, and Juice.

Any WR we took would be WR2. We traded up for a guy who, imo, has the single most elite trait of any WR in this draft.

Guy was a consistent high performer for 4 years at a high level. Incredibly high floor, rave reviews about character, etc.

Zero percent chance he isn’t at least a solid contributor. Pretty good chance he’s an excellent player.

Bro, WR is way to deep to trade up for a guy like this.

11th pick in the whole draft. He better be that dude and fast

He was a top 11 pick and. Senior and his wasn’t even the #1 WR on his team.

His college stats don’t stack against any of the top wr the last 2-3 years or the guys coming out next year.

I dont think any of these WR were worth trading up for, but especially not Olave.

And like Lester said at 11 you’re not drafting #2 guys.

When I saw we traded up I thought we gave both 1st rounders to get a sit for a year QB. Now give us a solid DT or RB in tip 50 picks and we may be talking about this draft for years. Nobody going to look back and say “gave up too many picks…” they’ll just see TDs being scored and defenses getting stretched for Kamara MT and co to operate

Not complicated.
And perhaps not done yet.

Sorry I'm happy with the trade but Wilson is the best WR in this draft.

Both ran 4.39 40’s. So speed is a push.
