It's lost luster now that teams rotate their elite edge all over. You want an above average-good OL, but you don't necessarily need an elite LT anymore. It's usually more +EV to ensure you spend the money across the 5 than consolidate too much in one guy. That and draft OTs because they are a position that translates immediately possibly more than any other position.

If you want some intra-team comparisons, look at KC and MIA.

What did KC have to give up to get Brown? Not very much at all and they still haven't signed him long-term (likely won't now). What did KC get for Tyreke Hill? A fricking war chest. What did MIA give up to get Armstead? nothing. They got him in FA and then gave Tyreke a much larger contract.

The Chiefs traded their 2021 first-round pick (No. 31 overall), a third-rounder (94), fourth-round pick (136) and a 2022 fifth-round selection in exchange for Brown and a 2021 second-round pick (No. 58) and a 2022 sixth-round pick.

I noticed you conviently left off what the Texans gave up for Tunsil. It’s much more than any player you can name…..

He’s not worth what would be a top-10 draft pick in a year where QBs will be available and you don’t have a long-term QB.

He’s a good player. And he’s was worth being selected in the first round. But whether he’s worth what you gave up to get him is another discussion. Everything has a benefit-cost equation. I don’t think he’s worth a top-10 pick next year.

If Olave turns into Marvin Harrison, then sure it was worth it.

But yiu never give up what we did unless you already have a franchise qb on the roster.

Even Atlanta wasn’t that stupid. They had Marty Ice when they made the Julio trade…

Premium LT’s rarely ever hit the market, unless they are old or injured. Armstead is a perfect example, he’s played half a season for what the last 6-7 years and still got paid.

Tunsil was coming off an elite season the year before. I think multiple teams offered 2 firsts and Texans gave up more.

Kinda says something when all these elite receivers are traded or made available almost every off-season but teams rarely make left tackles available. Even the saints wanted to keep Armstead but couldn’t b/c of cap reasons. That should tell you how teams view the position. You are a fool if you believe teams don’t value the position highly, even probably more so than wr.
