If javis Landry wasn't being a big demanding 20m from the saints and took a cheaper deal maybe we would have drafted jameson instead and had the luxery to wait a month for him to play but shite happens... I'm happy with the pick

If you want to talk relative to this class, Olave has to be more than just a solid WR2 in order to justify trading multiple picks to move up a few slots to take.

You’re not going to have two WR catching 100 balls each. If Thomas returns to form 90% of the WRs in the league are “WR2” next to him

The unit is a sum it’s parts. You only had Thomas, you needed another guy regardless. Now you got a guy who compliments him well. Opens things up for everyone, can run the whole route tree. shite go grab another guy still. Let’s look at the offense as a whole and stop worrying about WR1 WR2 whatever

Based off how you’ve basically shite on a lot of the Saints trade ups, esp in the first round

The same scouts who drafted Ruiz with our first in 2020?

NFL scouts just more than they hit so this deference to them means ahit to me.

What’s our success rate since 2017?

If Thomas gets injured can Olave be WR1?

I don’t see it.

I dont Think anyone legitimately does.

Gyne you know I don’t care about the numbers. Can he be a legit WR1 threat? A guy that pulls defenses? A guy that they say “holy shite we gotta double this guy”

Cause that is what they said he is based on the bounty.

Feels Like they paid for the safe choice. But it certainly comes at a price

So worse number than all the other elite WRs.

And it’s extrapolating games that didn’t happen.

Sub 1200 yards isn’t elite.

Marquise Brown just went for a first round pick and Christian Kirk got paid $18m/year. That’s what WRs cost now.

It’s impossible to say if Olave can be a legit WR1 threat. Cooper Kupp just torched the league with like a 5 RAS score. Who knows.

Who gives a shite? Michael Thomas never even broke 1,000 yards any year at Ohio State. He never even had more than 800 yards.

Look at him now. Just say you don’t like the pick for no other reason than he’s not the player you wanted the Saints to take. You have no logical reason to hate a player who was considered by some “experts” to be the best WR in the class and at worst the third best guy.

The number one overall pick had 9.5 career sacks and we’re sitting here bitching about Chris Olave

:squints:

Picks 2.47, 3.69 & 1.25

AJ brown 2.51

Taking a WR like this at 11 is borderline egregious

So wait and take Jahan Dotson? Christian Watson? Pickens?

Haven’t you been on the FO’s case about not drafting WRs in the past year?

Maybe if you dismiss the principle of relativity and think this draft was like every other one where a WR at #11 is exactly the same as a WR at #11 in all of them.

I have no idea where his info comes fro or if it’s correct, but Moscona’s been saying that the Saints think Olave is the best WR in this draft. And it may not strictly be his RAS or measurables. Maybe they value how his does on the white board, in the interviews, how he carries himself, how much he communicates his love for and commitment for football. And like Hunt alluded to a few times tonight, surely the Saints have some guys inside the Ohio State program they really trust, and if those guys vouch for the player, it makes it an easier pick.

[quote] How can I be hypocrisy when I never once bragged on Daniel’s being accurate?

You didn’t—in that thread at least—but you poo pooed Myles’ 60% completion percentage as not being that great for college. And you know that’s relative. And you’ve never just used that stat to make an argument on accuracy. Is Myles completing 60% of his passes on 15 ypa? Is Daniels completing 65% of his on 5 ypa? I don’t know—don’t care. Just want you to be consistent. But again, you’re being intellectually dishonest if you can’t concede you’re skewing these stats to favor Daniels.

quote:

Truth be told I don’t even want him to win the job. I would much prefer an attempt to develop Nussmeier on what will surely be a year for re-developing the program.

I don’t want Daniels to win the job right now because I think his arm talent limits us more than whatever weaknesses Brennan and Nuss have. Like I said, I’ve wanted Nuss to start since UCLA last year. But: 1) Daniels’ legs are a weapon that have to be figured out how to be used somehow, 2) Nuss has the best combination of arm, athleticism, swag, “it factor,” whatever, and 3) Myles’ age—not necessarily game experience—is a an underrated factor. There’s a big difference between being 24 and 20. We are probably gonna need all 3 if we can get them to stay, and I just don’t see any advantage to trying to run any out.

You play. To win. The game. Kelly is not punting on the ‘22 season to better prepare
us for ‘23. Its a lot easier to recruit and develop for the future the better your record/team is in the present. I’ve seen people say a 7-5/8-4 season would be a success. Bull fricking shite. Kelly isn’t resigning nor are we calling for his firing if we go 7-5, but Kelly will rightfully be pissed the frick off.

quote:

Brennan is not overly accurate. He doesn’t own any notable intangibles.

Maybe not. I’d need more data on the accurate part. I’m not sure he’s had time to ever really get in a rhythm

The guy is a good not great WR.

He’s a deep threat who averaged under 15 yards a catch in College.

He went back for year 4 because none of the experts thought he was as good as any of the guys coming out last year and they still probably don’t.

And we traded up to get him.

He was the second best WR on his team (not talking about Wilson either). His draft stock is high in this draft because there aren’t elite guys like Chase or Smith.

And we gave up picks to go get him.

He literally would have been a 1st round pick last year.

No... No he wouldn't. Washington (who we traded with for #11 drafted a receiver at #16. The Lions drafted Williams at #12 right behind the Saints. So that's two teams that could've and probably wouldve picked Olave before #16.
