The one we've all been craving.

DE Keion White from Georgia Tech had been previously projected as a late second round pick but he drummed up some buzz at the Senior Bowl.

quote:

"White was a devastating player for Old Dominion in 2019, making 19 TFLs. He was 265 then. He transferred to Tech, but then suffered an ankle injury that sidelined him. He’s now 6-4, 290, and primed to be a problem for ACC teams. White has hit 21 mph despite being almost 300 pounds. He also has vertical-jumped 32 inches and done 38 reps of 225 on the bench press.

White missed most of the 2021 season with an injury, but he returned to be a force this season. He finished the season with 7.5 sacks and 54 tackles and after this season,

quote:

Ahead of the Senior Bowl off last week, I texted a handful of NFL scouts to ask their opinions on the best player in attendance. Every one of them replied, "Keion White." Indeed, he impressed all week with power, quickness and traits that point to positional versatility in the NFL. At 6-5 and 280 pounds, White has the power to knock blockers off their spots, but he also showed a nasty spin move and more agility than expected. According to one NFL general manager with whom I spoke, he can play inside as a 3-technique or outside as a head-up defensive end -- which is good because New Orleans could lose David Onyemata and Marcus Davenport to free agency. White posted 7.5 sacks and 11.5 tackles for loss in 2022.

Athletic potential with an injury history? The only way he could be more perfect for the Saints is if the Saints deal a pick to move up to take him.

We should definitely move up to draft him in the mid first round. Trade next years first.

meh. need sidney browm or chris smith at safety. probably the top two that can play single high safety, which is what allen covets. it's just hard to find.

white would be a good pick, but tuipulatu would be a great pick who has shown he can play anywhere from 3tech to 7tech. a better player than white at this point and he can be had in the second round.

dt is a more pressing need and tuipulatu is a proven option inside and out.

need brown/smith at safety and tuipulatu as the first dline pick. could probably trade back a little from 29th a get a true centerfielder to go with tuipulatu.

both of those safeties can play in the box too, which is what brown did exclusively this past year.

if torrence is there at 29, we gotta take him.

penning, torrence, mccoy, ruiz and ram will make us one the top olines in the league again, but i don't think torrence will fall that far.

having white and tuipulatu would be the way to go, as long as we can get one of brown and smith to go with it, but i think both will be gone at 71.

Injuries? Risk?
Saints trade up 2 spots, add our 2nd in 2023 and 2024 to the 2023 Denver pick to grab him.
Loomis says he reminds us of Cam Jordan.

agree with you there. marcus williams should have been our top priority. allen did a solid job scheming without him, but not having a true single high took a lot of options of the table for our defense.

What sucks is this is realistic I feel like the team doesn't have any obvious positional targets in the draft other than DE.

QB and RB are obvious needs but based on positional value probably won't be our picks in the first 3 rounds.

Saints would be better off drafting Drew Sanders from Arkansas.
