It seems the Saints have probably told Kwon they were moving on. I think they are high enough on Werner to think he could take the spot full time now. Kwon probably wants 3 years from someone and I doubt the Saints want to do anything more than a one year deal with his injury history. 2 at most and it would have to be team friendly. If you could get him for 2 years $12 million I’d say do it but I think some team will give him 3 years in the $15-20 range. No question our defense was a different unit with him on the field though.

No way anyone gives him.3 yr contract. His age and injury hx are prohibitive. Saints should offer 2 yr 8mil and see if he bites that would be great value for his leadership and coverage skills.

Underhill reported today the Saints are comfortable with Werner and that’s likely why Kwon is looking elsewhere. Makes sense if they’re truly trying to lower our cap issues and focus on adding impactful players on rookie deals.

Would hate to lose Kwon, but could this turn to a comp pick?

Werner is a damn good LB. I would argue he is a better all around LB than Kwon at this point. Kwon is still an athletic freak and better in coverage, but Werner is the future and is probably to good to keep off the field.

I wouldn't even say Kwon is better in coverage. They can downvote you into oblivion but have someone post the PFF numbers between the two for last year

I mean they paid kwon 5 mil last year and Werner was just as good.

Cool he can join CJ Uzomah and never play in a meaningful game again.

I’ll miss Kwon though. Always liked him.

We signed way too many free agents for that (which is why the notion Dalton cost us a comp is hilarious; we were well past that before we touched him).

How so? What FA did we sign that qualified for the compensatory pick calculation besides Maye and Dalton?

Every true free agent signed counts. It's a 1 to 1 ratio.

Only players that don't count are ones that were cut, you trade for, or your own free agent resignings.

By my count that's 8 outside free agents we picked up and 2 or 3 we lost. Not sure if any we signed were cut but I highly doubt 5 or more were.

Some idiot wanted to go on a rant acting as if Dalton cost us a comp pick, but he was like our 7th or 8th signing so we had lost the comps way before signing him.

After reading multiple times I've concluded you don't know what you're talking about. He played very well with everything they asked of him and his PFF scores are right there with Demario Davis.

Wrong. League minimum signings do not count. May want to visit OTC's sight and learn about how it works before criticizing others with wrong info.
