First of all who cares as far as the Saints…Sean Payton and that entire coaching staff aren’t even with the saints.

Second who cares in general, it was an open secret that Payton was getting barred out during his time here. What’s next some nfl players and coaches in the 80’s did coke?

Also it goes to show what a joke a lot of these undercover gotcha videos are. Bc this Washington VP guy is clearly a fricking nutjob just spouting shite to try and get laid

Well, if this is true then we all should be pissed. At Sean Payton and his coaches for stealing drugs. At Goodell and the NFL for covering it up by using subterfuge in creating a scandal in Bountygate as a pretense to punish the organization and Payton. And at the corrupt FBI for allowing and going along with the charade and not charging Payton and the coaches with illegally obtaining drug

Don't care about it and neither should you.

Money talks bud. NFL has way more power than the FBI. They didn't want that black eye out at the time. Most players and coaches are on drugs and you don't hear much about it.

Enteen states that Payton and other Saints coaches were caught stealing painkillers from the team doctor, saying, “They used the story of Bountygate as the justification for the suspension to cover up the truth, which is that they had a painkiller-addicted and distributing coaching staff.”

At this point, the concerted planned attack by the NFL, its associates, its assigns, and its useful idiots is proof that the NFL fixed the no call game and contrived bountygate to mitigate concussion lawsuits.

The NFL must continue to malign CSP at every step of the way as an arrogant villain in order to coverup its own wrongdoings.

By demonizing an individual, it is no more than projection in hiding the fact that the NFL did select one team and one coach to take the fall by showing all the world that the players themselves were paying to injure themselves.

CSP will never be allowed to truly ever succeed in the NFL again. He is the black hat and the NFL is the white hat.

The subliminal projection is that the NFL did not fix the Rams Saints game with 4 Southern California refs and the Saints and CSP didn’t deserve to win a Superbowl because they are bountygate cheaters.

Has more to do with Goodell and Payton than with the Saints. This could potentially sink Goodell if anything ,but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I pose the question, why did the story seem to disappear? No DEA or cops were ever involved. Could this be about why Goodell had an ax to grind with Payton and the Saints? It's coincidental that the pill stuff and bounty gate were all around the same time frame. Could also explain the no call in the NFCCG.years later. Goodell wanted no part of the Saints and Payton. Those need to be answered. My feeling is this story has some merit.

Payton being high as giraffe pussy and still winning a Super Bowl only adds to the legend.

I, for one, don’t care about any of this past this post.

I frequently run into ex-nfl running backs and linesmen who are north of 40. Those dudes live on painkillers just to get out of bed. Back pain, joint pain, headaches, multiple injuries and surgeries.

This story makes no sense. Bountygate year was 2012? If you wanted oxy before 2016 all you had to do was ask any doctor. They gave it out like candy because the belief was it was non-addictive and harmless. A dentist would give you a bottle of 30 for simply getting a cavity filled, you think nfl teams had to smuggle them. Every team likely had Costco sized buckets of oxy in the locker room.

Some of you aren't reading things, so to review for those of you too young to remember:

THIS CAME OUT 15 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!

It was well reported that there may have been an issue with SP and painkillers taken from the team's supply. Local news reported it. ESPN reported it. Varied commenters over the years on this board have referenced it.

THIS IS NOT NEWS.

Bountygate happened many years later. It had nothing to do with drugs. It had to do with the league worried about the concussion litigation going on at the same time, plus the fact that SP lied to the NFL about it when asked. That's why he got the year suspension and Joe Vitt only got 6 games. Vitt told the truth, Sean lied. It had nothing to do with opioids.

Agree that pills and bounty gate are two different things. Maybe the league looked the other way or even covered up pill issue, but I guarantee that wasn’t just a Nola thing. A lot of the country and all of the NFL were on opioids in that era, give me a break. Bounty gate was Sean being an a-hole and Goodell putting him in his place. Both are simple individual stories and if any connection it’s simmering personal resentment, not some grand coverup.

People these days want to see stuff that’s not actually there and make wacky conspiracy connections because it adds intrigue and makes them feel smarter. The simplest explanation is true 99.9% of the time.

Agreed, the NFL needed to show fans that players were paying to injure themselves in order to mitigate concussion lawsuits with bountygate.

Likewise, the NFL had billions of dollars invested in the Rams new playing facility and needed to begin a return on that investment and market.

The Rams were guided by 4 Southern California refs to make it to the Superbowl pushing aside the small market Saints. The fan backlash may have prevented the NFL from making the Rams Superbowl champions that year.

There are no conspiracy theories but smart business decisions to save money on concussion lawsuits and to continue presenting an image of league safety for the players.

Making money and growing the product is the continuous goal of the NFL. The NFL simply executes a business plan with the consent of all owners.

The coaches and players are hired employees that the NFL manipulates for narratives designed to maximize league wide profits.

The NFL is in court documents stated entertainment.

Yeah, that's totally not a conspiracy theory.

Then why would some mid level arse hat from the Washington Commanders even bring it up.

We don't know the time line of the investigation and how much the NFL was stalling the investigation or its results.

There is plenty of smoke with this story as the bounty gate suspensions didn't even make much sense knowing many other teams were doing the same thing. It makes some sense when Payton and the Saints put a target on themselves with the pain killers.
