IMO, you want a backup that plays the same style as Shough, so that you don't have to completely change the offense when you need the backup. I don't think that is Rattler.

Haener is a free agent after this season, and I would have no desire to sign him to a new contract. I would try to get one of the older vets that have bounced around the league as journeymen QBs to give a veteran presence in the room. You can put them or Rattler on the PS, depending on who else the team is trying to plug onto the PS

They terminated his rookie contract when they cut him to put him on the PS.

or draft a QB in the mid-rounds to groom behind Shough and Rattler
You want to spend a draft pick on a guy "to groom", when Shough's a rookie and Rattler's in his second year?

We're already grooming both of those guys. And fwiw, I think Rattler as a 5th rd pick is paying off. Lots of guys picked in the 5th don't even make the roster, he was able to start a few games for us and is an adequate backup.

I still think we need to upgrade our QB position. We should get one veteran who has actually played some.

I seriously doubt that an organization is going to trade a 4th for Rattler. He is a decent backup, but I doubt he is even a top ten backup

Never say never. An organization gave up a 4th rounder for a receiver that was 5th on its depth chart.

Cousins is going to demand like 10/per year as a backup.

yeah nix that then. I was hoping he's up in age come relax for the rest of your career. Whomever it may be...Id just like a smart vet to mentor Shough. Someone with brains.

Yes. This team is devoid of playmakers. Theres no generational talent at qb this draft, so you use your picks to get talent on this team. Safety, DLine, WR, etc.

That was done with a plan for that receiver to be a significant part of the offense, due to his size and skill set. Whether or not the staff has properly utilized that size and skill set……well, we all know the answer to that.

I do believe that they are attempting to integrate him into the offense…..so I still have hope that it will happen (and be effective)

Damn the rattler diehards just can't admit he's a terrible qb even though facts say so

He's not good but he did enough to win some games. We all saw what this team looks like against playoff teams. It looks like shite.

Even max hall has as many wins and took him a lot less games to get there.

Yes and it was against us. The cards had an offensive and defensive fumble return for a TD each and a pick 6 IIRC. Most Saints shite ever lol.

Personally, I don't "love" Rattler. I'm just curious about opinions on whether he's a decent backup. I'd rather resources be spent in other areas than paying for a more expensive backup or drafting another QB. My thread is based on whether Shough continues to play well.
