I hope 6-11 can win the division. We lack talent from starters on down to win any more

We really do need two more drafts to fix the screw ups under late Payton, Allen, and Loomis.
You can just see it at every level.
We are weak at the starting positions and that trickles down from there. Our 2nd team is worse then the opposing 2nd teams, and our 3rd team is all just camp bodies.

Thank you this is also a team who had 2 joint practices the same week. The real concern is from an operational standpoint. All these penalties are horrible. That’s on Kellen. The Rams are physically outplaying us. That could be due to the joint practices.

I think this team is talented at the 1 deep. But this game shows the Saints are paper thin and can’t afford any injuries to starters or this could go left quick.

Almost all of the optimism from the board is based on Shough being a legit starting QB and how the team responded to that.
Shough doesn’t play, and neither do any other starters and even significant backups, and somehow we’re judging the season based on that.

Maybe 1.5 deep. It would be interesting to see the starters next week for a quarter or half and even then......
I 've seen teams that were undefeated in preseason and maybe win 5-7 games. Seen teams really suck in the preseason and make the Super Bowl.

Yes and no. Shough’s development is the most important thing. I’m ok with an 8 or 9 win season as long as it looks like he’s building on last year and continuing to improve.
But at some point, things like the penalties and lack of discipline are going to cap the ceiling of the team even as the talent pool on the roster slowly gets better. I don’t mind getting our arse kicked in a meaningless preseason game but it’s the way we lost. The attitude of the team was just a complete lack of interest, and it showed. We didn’t look ready to play, were lethargic and had a frick load of penalties, which were issues last year.
I want Moore to succeed here and stick around but I also want him to be good enough to stick around to keep developing Shough. Right now, idk if that’s the case. Sure, he’ll get at least until the end of next year, but Shough’s development seems like the only thing Moore and the offensive staff are getting right. Because while the players ARE developing and improving, the operations surrounding them (discipline, game planning, accountability, mental mistakes) is not improving and there was a lot of hope that Moore, who is a sharp dude, would address and have a plan of action in place to at least improve in some of the areas the team really struggled in last year.
