I believe we could see better QB play than the last 2 years.

So I’ll preface this by saying I’ve been a die hard supporter of Brees through everything. He’s the greatest player in franchise history and I would support him staying as long as he wanted for what he’s done for the Saints.

It’s no secret that Brees body the last two years has been the saints biggest problem. He just couldn’t hold up and tried to play through injuries that it would have been hard for a young QB to play through.

Jameis has extremely good arm talent. That was never his issue. His issue was always decision making. There is nobody better to fix that then Payton. Payton got an entire year to work with him so it’s not like he’s just getting thrown in there after being signed in the offseason. He’s taken less money to learn and have a shot to revitalize his career. As much as I respect Brees, Jameis will most likely be better than Brees has been at the end of the last two seasons. Payton is going to be open the offense up a ton. The saints will actually have a deep ball that opponents will have to respect. That will allow Kamara to really excel with less defenders playing near the line.

I think people are really going to be surprised by what the Saints offense is going to be able to do with Jameis at QB. I for one am extremely excited to see this team get on the field next season.

Both QBs in the building are super turnover prone. That’s the secret. Fix that and we’re definitely in the playoffs.

12-5 is realistic. Unfortunately so is 5-12.

We shall see.

I agreed. Accidentally hit the down button and I can’t undo it.

Idk.

Payton can’t throw the ball for him, and even drew usually had a decent amount of INT.

Partially because of how much he was throwing.

Taysom’s is just freaking fumbling for the most part. No idea why he hasn’t already fixed that. Hopefully Winston can cut his interceptions down, like in half . He cuts his interceptions in half and throws for around 4,000 yards we’ll be in ok shape. Payton won’t, but needs to do more running plays. Defense is going to be a possible issue for the next 2 seasons, unless all our defensive draft picks, or at least most, from 2019-21 pan out

You can undo it. Leave the thread, come back in and push "like", leave out again and it'll be fixed when you come back.

But Jameis was playing for coaches who put their QB’s in bad situations. That’s not what Payton does. When the decisions are easier to make you probably make less poor decisions

taysom only had fumble issues when running, his main fault is in reading defenses and making quick decisions to act.

he is the best QB we have if he can learn to quickly read defenses, that alone will decide if he is a great QB or just a decent backup

winston is a turnover machine and that will never change. in a way he is opposite of taysom in that he makes bad reads and throws into coverage when he shouldnt even be trying to throw it there. he also spent a whole year with us and still didnt learn the play book either from being that stupid or just DGAF, either way he isnt going to do shite for us but give us indegestion

I want a clear cut starter and not any waffling at the QB position.

Don't mind the occasional wrinkle with Taysom in the game but if Jameis is serving up INT's its totally possible Taysom will get a nice chunk of playing time.

The Saints can run the ball and that should take some pressure off Jameis not having to pass too much.

You'd like to think that watching Brady go down to Tampa and win a SB with mostly the same pieces Jameis had would motivate him but that only goes so far.

we'll see.

Taysom is not a better QB than Winston

100% THIS. I truly believe the Saints will put him in position to reduce his interceptions. We have consistently been win the First down vs get the homerun since 2006. We just happen to have athletes that can break ANY play for a TD plus when we have the defense so focused on getting burned for easy 1st downs we can pop an easy one down field from time to time.

I think taysom is going to get snaps at qb.

Probably about 6 or 8 a game.

Jameis has slimmed down even more.
He is doing everything possible to be a great qb.

All he has to do is protect the ball and he will be a winning qb.

Also throw in the fact that in Tampa, Jameis played with a GARBAGE OL the entire time. In New Orleans, he's behind one of the best in the league. I have faith Jameis will do just fine here and I think we'll end up in the playoffs.

People keep saying this but his o-line was basically the same as brady had. The only difference is tristan wirfs instesd of demar dotson.

I may be way too optimistic, but I feel the same way. I think Payton can design an offense around Jameis and his strength and we can actually have an attacking offense again, unlike the last two years.

I just don't trust Jameis to make those tight window throws like Brees can. Brees' ability to make those throws makes those decisions look smart. The same decision by Jameis cam make him look dumb just because Jameis doesn't have the same accuracy. Can Jameis make some of those throws? Sure. But not at the same rate as Brees.

Jameis is the QB with enough arm talent to throw the deep ball but who is the WR that can take the top off of defenses on a consistent basis?

If a WR arrives as a deep threat it will make Jameis' job a lot easier.
