For our offensive struggles.

I’m not making excuses

Play calling is extremely bad and Carr has been disappointing

But WRs dropping passes, and Carr having little time and getting hit and hurt has to factor in.

Serious question

One of the biggest early in the season. They were awful.

They play like they are the oldest oline in the league..in nfl history.

15% the blame

45% Carmichael

40% Carr

The OL is not very good, however, better playing can hide poor OL play.

Better QB play could mask poor OL play.

If we are struggling to block, then we should be moving the pocket and running screens more to keep the DL honest.

I actually put a large share of the blame on the line. Pete is trying to run Payton's offense, which is matchup-based but depends on precise routes and a clean pocket. Carr spent the first few weeks getting abused immediately and developed happy feet and fed his check-down tendency. Pete adjusted due to the shitty line play by having his RB and TE help out blocking, taking away a passing option.

If we had a solid line, I think the offense looks head and shoulders better.

The line has been bad all year. Ruiz is hot trash. McCoy has not been much better. But , since they moved Peat to tackle has improved the left side, but Ram has been no better than a speed bump.

Brady and Brees had quick releases and masked their OL deficiencies.

Play selection is typically atrocious currently.

They're playing terrible and I do not think it's just because of lack of talent, though that's becoming an undeniable problem of its own. The regression of the run blocking has been the biggest disappointment. I really think Doug Marrone should be replaced along with Carmichael. Barone seems to have experience with coaching the O-Line as well as TEs. It seems like it might be hard to bring in a quality position coach with a staff hanging on by a thread to their jobs but something has to change.

You also have to try to get an elite LT in the draft as well, probably and interior Lineman as well. As I said in another theard you have to hope the light comes on for some of the linemen you've invested picks in but you can't sit back and wait for it to happen. The line needs to be fixed now. If Young and Penning figure it out and start producing it's a good problem to have but you can not count on it. That's why as much as I'd love to get the QB of the future with the first pick, if you have a shot at a top tackle you have to get him.

Good post - it’s a HUGE problem - literally & figuratively.

(Not taking up for Winston’s overall play) but did you watch the replay of the 4 & 6 on the All 22?

Ruiz & Ram were blown by like they weren’t even there.

Winston didn’t have much of a chance to get the ball to Olave.

people hate on Jammal Williams but he's solid in pass protection.

Kamara has to block more also.

O-line has played better since the awful start but there are warts there.

No question about it.

Ruiz is hot trash

most of us could see this one a mile away... he is not a guard, and he's not adept enough to be our C...

McCoy has not been much better

mainly b/c he's having to pull double duty with how fricking back Ruiz has been...

since they moved Peat to tackle has improved the left side

NEVER thought this would be the case, but in this stupid arse season... even shite like this is possible...

Ram has been no better than a speed bump.

his body is failing him... i fully expect him to be out of the league in no more than 3 years... he's just breaking down faster than anticipated

It's always the o-line. Everything starts with the o-line.

The only thing I feel I can speak on regarding the OLine is our offense seems to be much more efficient whenever Peat is in the medical tent getting his vagina checked out. I've made a point not to watch much Saints games this season so he might have improved, but this held true for the previous 2 seasons.

That being said, terrible coaching can make an offensive line look awful. Houston Nutt during his stint at Ole Miss is a great example. He called play actions for almost every offensive play regardless if it was an absolutely obvious passing down or not. When a PA is called, the OLine has to fake a run block(which means they push forward a yard or so). By the time the fake happens and the OLine has to fall back for pass blocking, the edge rushers are already in the backfield. Bradley Sowell was the LT for us during those years and was absolutely hated by the fans for "being so awful" and getting holding penalties 5+ times a game.

He was far from awful as he ended up having a very successful NFL career. Dogshit playcalling can make an Offensive line look terrible.

Some, but not alot. It was worse the first couple games of the season. The running game struggles because of poor oline blocking and because of an outdated design with no creativity. The run game wasnt working for payton near the end either. We need more motion and play action to help our run game

None, it’s all Derek Carr, Dennis Allen, Pete Charmichael, and Loomis’ fault.

But mostly Derek Carr

The OL sucks, the QB’s suck, the WR’s suck, the OC sucks.

The whole damn Offense sucks. I’ve never seen a professional team act like they are allergic to scoring points like they do.

OL needs to be completely overhauled!!
Gave ridiculous contracts to Ruiz and Peat who both are garbage and McCoy who is overrated and Big Ram who is no where near what he once was!

Carr has like the 5th most time in the pocket of anyone in the league…
