We must remember that the Saints themselves could get some big time picks in a Sean Payton trade potentially.
Just offer Houston the rights to Payton for Watson, right now.

Is almost as valuable as Watson. This would be a hard no for me. The rest are all acceptable though.
A top 5 rt is an valuable as a top 5-7 qb.

I wonder if they'd value this as a 1st and a 2nd

I hope we can hold onto onyemata.
I think he is due for another contract after next year though.
I bet it's going to be 2 or 3 firsts, a couple later picks and mccoy, davenport, and another ok player.

quote:The issue is that you're giving up a lot of the players that make you good to acquire a QB.
Giving up a guy like Ram or McCoy plus other good players plus 3 1sts would be tough.
BUT, on the other hand, you would have your QB for a long time AND there's the very real possibility that the Cowboys trade for Sean Payton's rights next year and that haul would be enormous, so the Saints would basically have a shite year in 2022 but be able to quickly rebuild in 2023.
This could be a long con...I just hope that of all those guys, Ram is not the one you give up.

Circling back to yesterday's conversation. ... Things can always change, especially in a trade situation where offers get exchanged, but I'd be surprised if Ryan Ramczyk is currently involved in discussions.
everybody chill

Underhill would know.
It just doesn't make sense financially.
Davenport, McCoy etc make sense financially.

So… three of the players that make the Saints a good destination for a QB? Great…
Two*
Trading Ruiz would be addition by subtraction at this point if he holds trade value

They know Dallas wants him, and they know it will take a premium to get him. And, Dallas has talent that they are struggling to get under the cap.
I have no idea if trading a coach's contract like that is even possible. But, Houston could probably get more for Dallas than the Saints would be willing to give. And, with Watson holding some cards, they aren't in the strongest position.
It's crazy to me that a team would offer multiple firsts combined with established borderline pro-bowl starters for Watson all things considered.

I wonder what Andrew Luck is up to.

You do not give up Ramcyzk, Onyemata or McCoy under any circumstance. If they want 3 first and Ruiz or Davenport fine do the deal but not those other 3.

If they want 3 firsts and mccoy, you def do the deal.

That would be about the most I would consider. Davenport, Onyemata, etc. and I walk.

I'd do that. If they add Davenport to that though, I don't know

Naw
You press accept with the quickness if McCoy or Onymata is the ask. McCoy is a FA after next year, he’s an easy dump if they want him. Onymata’s will need a deal eventually as well and you can replace his production through the draft.
Y’all gotta understand something of consequence needs to go out for Watson. Gotta pay to play

Houston leaking this BS to drive up the cost?

The top 1 T makes a top 30 QB look like a top 15. He's a huge reason why we had success with Bridge, Winston, Hill, Semen.
So yeah, he's ALMOST as valuable. If this were a straight up Ram for Watson deal, then I would say pull the trigger. The deal as written, however, is a hard pass if Ram is involved.

looks like Pitt is going with Trubisky, there's one less suitor for Watson/JW

Mercy. over the last 24 hours, seems like things are falling our way.
Hope it works out and he's a Saint (at a manageable cost)
