latavius is not as big of a drop off from ingram as some are worried about. I get losing chemistry but i dont think losing one player will sink the entirety the saints chemistry. Murray and INgram are about the same age is the only thing that doesn't make sense. seems as if we could have went after a younger RB with better durability to fulfill our RB 2 needs

Murray is a hard runner that has shown success on the field. Ingram has been a time share RB that compliments Kamara, and really has become a role player more than anything. Murray will fit that role perfectly and at the proper cost. Ingram most likely wants starter money and even starter playing time, so there's no way we should pay him that as a role player.

Before Ingram/Kamara, the Saints often used three running backs regularly. I suspect they will try to find the next PT23/Mike Bell/Chris Ivory/Khiry Robinson/etc.

Playerwise - I hate to see him go. But knowing that we signed Murray and saved a little money (I’m assuming here) to use elsewhere sort of makes me excited

Even with Ingram's suspensions and games missed due to injury, he has 500 less touches than Mark. And he's only missed 3 games in 5 years.
That's encouraging.

Solid decision by the Saints. Murray will be a fine replacement for Ingram, who likely is looking at his last big contract. Saints chose team depth (money savings) and similar production, rather than over-paying the second best RB on the team. And, let’s not forget that Dwayne Washington is a young back that finished pretty strong last season.

So we are keeping Ingram and moving Murray over to the WR position rite?

I got downvoted on other thread for the same comment but Murray ran a 4.38 at his pro day at 230# and 6'3". He'll be a beast behind our line. What's not to like.

Murray hit 22 mph on this run back in 2014

The fastest recorded mph last year in the NFL was Matt Breida at 22.09 mph

It’s a few years later but Murray still has juice

Murray has always been a freak of nature.
For what we are going to ask him to do that contract is nice.

I know he wants the ball so they must of sold him on getting a bunch of carries.
I want to look into his blocking to see if he will stand in there on 3rd down

Good sidegrade at a lower price than Ingram.

I guess I'll wait and hold hope as it plays out, just hard for me to see a positive in losing a former Heisman winning 1st round pick for a 6th rounder on his 2nd team, now 3rd with us. Everyone keeps saying he's a beast, not many beasts are on their 3rd team in 6 years.

I like it.

If your FAs want too much, let them go and sign someone else who you believe can take their place.

The Patriots model.
