re: Fournette status with Jags

Running onto the field to fight... which he was suspended for. Also just the other day he and Yeldon were publicly shamed by Tom Coughlin for sitting on the bench looking uninterested and not involved whatsoever. It’s been said that the Jags are voiding Fournette’s contract guarantees.

I saw the fight and heard about being called out, but have there been other issues with his attitude over the last two years?
Posted on 12/31/18 at 9:45 am to Charlie Arglist
IMHO, Coach Payton will not agree to the addition of this running back to the roster.

There was also an issue with fans earlier in the season. Some sort of altercation. But for Jacksonville to void contract guarantees maybe there was more issues and they had enough.

So, you think Ingram would put up better stats than LF if he were running behind the Jacksonville OL?
Did you not watch the first 5ish years of Ingram's career where we had arse for OL. He still has better YPC than LF, and if you extrapolate his YPC to get the same carries per game as LF Ingram has over 16 more YPG.
That's not even considering the intangibles like leadership and not being a dumbass, fight starting, POS.
Ingram>>>>LF and it ain't close.

No. He didn’t. He averaged under 4 ypc that is never great under any circumstances. Especially for a top pick.
It was 3.9 ypc...
By comparison
2017
Ezekiel Elliott 4.1
Le'Veon Bell 4.0
Melvin Gordon 3.9
Christian McCaffrey 3.7
Guess those guys suck too
It's his second year in the league. He was a vital part of their success last year and took a lot of pressure off Bortles. He was top 10 in the league in rushing yardage and TDs. That is not a bust

Whodidthaf making the most sense here...
INGRAM:
Pros-Great attitude, team player, reliable, knows the system
Cons-Approaching 30, not yet known what his next contract $$$ will be, has a history of injuries just like LF.
FOURNETTE:
Pros-Youth, has not yet peaked, has had success in the league even while opponents game planned specifically for him, 3 down back
Cons-Injury history, negative attitude because in the last meaningless game of the season in which he was not dressed out and they were getting their asses kicked he looked disinterested???????? He got in a fight on field, stupid yes, but also helping stand up for teammates.
Ingram battled injuries his first 5 years or so in the league, much like LF. Ingram didn’t have much success in NFL until the second half of his 3rd year in the league. Most of this board, myself included, wanted to trade him for whatever we could get until the Dallas game in his 3rd year.
Ingram is the better back now, sure, but to suggest that Ingram would have had more success than LF in Jax over the last 2 years is BS in my book. Also to suggest that LF wouldn’t look better in Sean Payton’s system with Drew Brees & Kamara than he does in Jax with freaking Bortles is just stupid.
If he were here LF also wouldn’t be carrying the ball 25x a game, so it would likely extend his career. As for who I would want, all comes down to Ingram’s contract and what value Payton places on Ingram’s personality and leadership that he provides in the locker room.

Fournette to my patriots.

Neither could Ingram his first few seasons here. Who’s to say that won’t change like Ingram did?

He just said this a few week ago

"I could be in better shape," Fournette said, via the Jaguars' website. "But I'm fine, though."

i will just say this, if he is a personality disruption issue then no we definitely dont want him here.
i have trouble believing they did all this without way way more unspoken locker room issues then the public knows about.
i have an issue with NFL players acting like a culcha punks so maybe he still thinks he is still in BR or maybe jacksonville is just as culcha as BR
but grown arse adults being paid millions to play a game shouldnt go around acting like gangsta punks, and the team mate comments and things spoken about in a round about way surrounding this situation with him, smells of that.
his talent is that of a franchise level player on a team like that yet they seem happy to send him somewhere else rather then try to work out their issues. until we know the full story this is a dumpster fire the saints shouldnt want any part of since we arent in any position of need at RB

If the saints can't resign Ingram, I'd be more than happy to have Fournette for the right price.
Posted on 12/31/18 at 12:59 pm to keakar
Thing that doesn't add up here is ESPN and other media outlets that report on the league are usually on top of reporting any kind of locker room or front office drama. This is the first I've heard of Fournette being a problem since he's been in the NFL. There were no major concerns during the draft process of him having character issues.

NO had the # 1 and # 2 offense in terms of yardage in Ingram’s first two years, and he only averaged 3.9 ypc.
To act like the Saints OL in his first two years was anywhere near as bad as what LF has to run behind, or that “Ingram >>>>LF and it ain’t close” is asinine.
Hell, Fournette only had 10 fewer carries in his first year than Ingram had in his first two years combined.
I like Ingram and think he fills a need in this offense, but let’s not act like he hasn’t had the luxury of playing in an offense with a plethora of weapons compared to Jacksonville.

agreed, maybe he slept with the owners wife/daughter or something.
the type of money and shite involved in this, you know damn well something of major importance is not being spoken of about the truth behind what is going on here.

It would be a marketing explosion. He would sell a ton of box seats and apparel. He’s never really played behind a legit offensive line, definitely never had a halfway decent QB. His potential is incredible. Has great pass catching ability, just has never been in an offense that wants that to be a major part of his game.
That said, he’s never going to play 16 games. Probably won’t play 12 games/season for the rest of his career. I think the character concerns are a bit overstated, but his report card “is what it is”. We all know Ingram is approaching 30, but mark still has a lot of tread on the tires.
Pass, unless it’s not much more than what Mark would command. 3yrs/ $20mil would be all I would throw at him.

I think you meant to say that Payton figured out how to use him
Ingram ran like a complete pussy for his first 3-4 years in the league. He would fall down as soon as anyone looked at him wrong. That has nothing to do with Sean Payton or any offensive schemes.
He came to the brink of getting cut and then finally got his act together when realized he was about to be out of the league.

Actually a tough call IMO.
He's ultra talented. I'd like to see what he could do behind a great offensive line in the backfield with a QB like Brees.
But his talent doesn't exist in a vacuum. Most teams aren't generally in a hurry to cut ties with their first round pick 2 seasons later so that's a red flag. Fournette has turned out to be a bit of a self absorbed shite head and he's had lingering ankle issues that have kept him off the field for parts of 3 seasons now.
