They were the only team to get a D. Oakland was next worst at D+.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS | D

When the Saints traded their 2019 first-round pick to move up 13 spots in this year's first round, most assumed it was for Lamar Jackson. You only make a move like that if you're targeting a quarterback, right? Not if you're the Saints, evidently. No, they took a talented but extremely raw edge defender instead, and followed it up with a few more reaches across all three days of this year's draft. With every questionable pick, there was also the constant reminder than they won't be picking in the first round next year. There's some upside in this group, but so many projects who will take time to reach their ceiling.

I keep seeing this line, so the sites would have given us a positive grade had we taken a raw QB that wasn't drafted until the very end of rd 1?

Well they gave us a B+ last year when we were obviously A++++, so they may be off by a grade, probably two.

That's not a foregone conclusion. We could acquire a pick in many different ways.

Simple fact of the matter is we needed a game changing DE opposite of Jordan. Davenport can be that guy. We had to do what we had to do.

And I love the Tre’Quan Smith pick. Dudes underrated as frick.

So much butt hurt from guys who really wanted to write Brees/Jackson stories for the next two years.

Draft Wire says it all ??

Posted this earlier:

The talking heads will not grade this as a very good draft imo, but the same dummies did not have a clue it would produce two Rookie of the Year players.

Guess I was expecting more at #1 - if we are all in to win it this year, thought a more guaranteed starter would be selected if we were were trading up. Next year’s 1st round is a big price to pay for a player that needs development. Great long term pick.

At 3, while we needed WR depth, just not sure here; good speed, but doubt he beats out Ginn on the outside. Think I would have preferred a TE here.

At 4, I will take a FlSt or AL OL anytime; need the depth with Armsteads injury history.

At 5, the Wisconsin S was a surprise. Played a few positions under Aranda, so well coached. A good depth DB that can play special teams.

At 6, Surprised to see another DB in this round. Thinking this is a reach with his injury history.

The Tech RB is a special teams guy that adds depth in the backfield.

And the final round may be, long term, the best value pick in the draft. A solid OL that can understudy the best C in the league for a few years till it is his time while providing depth at G& C.

The NFL parity system makes the draft a chess game for the successful teams. The “heads” will give the great grades to the teams the guys at the top, not recognizing the task for the teams at the bottom.

All in all, pretty good job at 27.

The benefit of good drafting is you can take these risks.

We need game changers, not bodies. Last 3 years we got starters and rotation guys at most poaitions
Few game changers in others, but we need a DL game changer

Well I rate our draft “let’s let these guys play in a game and see how they do”

Would’ve been a D if they drafted Lamar Jackson. He’s a combo of RGIII and Vince Young.

No draft is supposed to give you that much in year 1 returns.

This is a decent draft meant to compliment the roster we have already. Most of these players also possess a lot of potential to grow over time. A lot of what we did will center around coaching and player development.

All these national experts handing out D-F grades dont understand what we had to get to complete our team because they dont actually follow us.

I am not letting Sean completely off the hook. They have a lot of work to do in order to make this class successful but the upside is certainly there.

so what we gave up a 25 plus pick for next year when the draft next year is the weakest it's ever been. no way we don't make the playoffs .

I’d rate the draft as I’m down with the picks w a star by Leonard meaning they better be right on his talent.

If we'd have taken Jackson they wouldve given us a good grade and we'd have been worse off for it. These people are idiots struggling to give their careers legitimacy. I want to win the Super Bowl, not the draft.
