I doubt it's oc. They would've just come out and said it.
Makes me wonder if they will do a committee oc.
Either way they need to make a strong hire for oc and that's not how i would label marrone.

Hope its oline coach. We need an upgrade there IMO. Specifically for the run blocking

He will probably be O line coach. Need some changes there. Roushar may be out. Marrone coached Strief from 2006-2008.
Ran for six yards against a mediocre, at best, LSU defense. They'd be better off just giving the job to Streif.
Look around the league at who's being successful. These guys are kidding themselves if they think players are jumping at the chance to play for 60 year old washouts

If it’s for o line coach, who cares? Are players jumping to play for Dan Roushar?
Marrone has a lot of experience and a lot of success with running o lines.

Duncan saying Saints are looking to bring back Marrone and also bring in John Morton. Its a pretty bland offense but Payton did not leave much on that side of the ball either.
Lets be real here. 1. The biggest problem for DA is that there is not a lot of good known offensive minds available at this time. 2. The saints salary cap and question at QB is not going to be enticing a good offensive minded coach to want to risk his reputation by being setup for failure.
Look at it this way, if Payton could not get this offense into cohesion then that says alot about the challenges for 2022. Who wants to take that role when they can stay where they are or take a better situation?
I think it would be wise for DA and Loomis to establish a scouting position for coaching. They need to find the great young minds in the college and NFL ranks and scout them the same way they scout players.

Agree with the sentiment, but technically he's been in the league the entire time. I think his career the past few years was getting signed to be backups after a starter gets inured. Not really a bad gig for him

Yeah the dude sucks. Bama averaged 4.11 ypc and was 111th nationally in TFLs allowed per game. You’d have to go back to 2007 to find a Bama team with worse numbers.
The only thing I could say is that maybe it’s just college and he didn’t have “his guys” and didn’t want really be here. Though his OLs at Jacksonville sucked too.
When he was the Saints OL coach in 2006-08, the Saints had a below average rushing attack as well.

Marrone was never the saints OL coach
He’s only been an OL coach in the NFL with the Jets and Jags. His units paved the way for multiple Curtis Martin 1k seasons, including a rushing title

IMO, it's always odd when a team starts filling in the assistant or specialty positions before bringing in their coordinator. Unless they already know who their guy will be, but they have 1 more game left and are communicating with who they want. It just seems weird to bring someone in after you just hired everyone they have to work with and give them no say. Sounds like another promotion from within in is the most likely OC.

He cannot be hired for OC. The Rooney Rule now applies to the coordinator positions as well.

There's 4 black offensive coaches on staff that could be "interviewed" if needed. Curtis Johnson, Joel Thomas, Ronald Curry, and DJ Williams.
