Does anyone else kind of wish we would just pull out at this point?

Our package is already out there. Dude is so clearly waiting for ATL to get their shite together. Otherwise why wait.
The Falcons have been to the playoffs a total of 1 time during the same stretch that the Saints one 4 straight division titles. To be looking this desperate is embarrassing.
Jameis wants to be here. Is he better than Watson? probably not. But he WANTS to be here, and he was 5-1 last year with essentially the same team before getting hurt. Lets just get ahead of this shite and sign him up just to see what he can do with a full year healthy. Use all this cap space that we have to secure guys like Armstrong and maybe find a way to squeeze in some more playmaking weapons for crab legs.
Quick statement: "The Saints organization is closing negotiations with Mr. Watson. While we appreciate his interest in the position, the team has decided that it's best course is to resume building a contender by looking in other directions. We look forward to competing against Mr. Watson in the future."

I want our name in it purely to put pressure on the Falcons to give up more assets. If we pull out maybe they’d play hardball and get a better deal

Let's falcons get him cheaper. Watson is using us for leverage on a mega deal. If he's going to falcons anyway, we want that contract as high as possible. In fact, I'd raise his long term deal even more... falcons will match it

No. Stay in it and hope to drive up the cost for atlanta.

THIS ... we are basically in frick the Falcons mode. It is obvious he isn't coming here, so I would keep going back with better and better contract terms. Let the Falcons match it and frick themselves in the long run.
I would also go back to the Texans and throw in an extra player and first round pick. Again, force the Falcons to match it.

I agree, I want to just roll with Winston and never thought I would say that. Just don't think Watson is worth the cost.

Yes. He's a pre madonna!
But really, yes. Maybe I'm too conservative but I'd rather roll with Jameis, keep our draft picks, and not sacrifice any core defensive players. Would be ok with just giving them Peat and Ruiz for the hell of it.

This. Loomis probably knows more about it than Twitter

It's a passive aggressive bitch move.
The organization isn't basing any decisions on Watson at this point. They know what's going on.
You are emotionally hurt because the sexy woman you almost had a shot at decided to go home with someone else.
The Saints are back to the same exact plan they had a week and a half ago. The Watson opportunity was unexpected. We almost got lucky. But, we are in a QB hole that's not going to be easy to get out of.

Pull it, let him go to that depleted roster

Yes.
I'd be openly discussing Mayfield at this point if I were Loomis.
I believe Mayfield hasn't reached his potential and with a new HC and staff a hungry Mayfield with something to prove the Saints may catch lightning in a bottle for a 2nd time. (Not that he would ever need to or be expected to do what #9 did here)
Watson is unquestionably the more raw talented of the two, but he will also unquestionably being more drama and outside distractions.

And you're in emotional denial because you still think you have a shot with the hottie that's clearly throwing eyes elsewhere.
funny how it works both ways
