I think we are to stick with what we have. 30 million under the cap. We a first second and a couple of third round picks not to lose anyone let’s go with Winston.

No I do not. And I even said that the Saints don't either. They know what's going on. There's probably a 5% chance the Atlanta deal falls through. So, you keep your hand because there's no value in folding.

Backing out now doesn't do anything positive except make emotionally weak people pretend they weren't a 2nd choice.

How does that make any sense? Houston wants to trade him and it’s not like Atlanta has to lower their offer in parallel with the saints. By pulling assets you essentially push him to Atlanta even harder.

At this point give him the benefit of the doubt. See if he's just a slimy frick stalling for the Falcons or if he really is just taking extra time to think it over.

Leverage where?

If you are talking about Watson's leverage over the Falcons, presumably you'd be allowing the Falcons to get a better deal done. Is that what you want?

If you are talking about the Texans, presumably you'd be lowering the price tag for trade compensation with Atlanta. Is that what you want?

The Texans can't keep Watson. Like it or not, Watson is in control. There's nothing the Saints can do to effect the outcome other than to convince Watson (presumably by offering him a better contract.)

I don't think we pull the offer yet, but there has to be some deadline established so we can move on if it doesn't happen. We can't end up with no Watson or no Winston. That would be a disaster, and I don't even like Winston that much.

He is under contract, the Texans have full control over Watson. If the Texans had to trade him and Watson had all control then his trade value would be minimal. Instead of the Texans being able to make trade demands they would be stuck taking whatever Watson and his new team decided they would get.

I am actually hoping that he keeps pushing so much with Atlanta, and then when he agrees to go there, Houston's front office, says okay. You want ATL, now they need to sweeten the deal. He will have no recourse at that point other than to pull his approval and be stuck in Houston for another year

If I am Houston, as much as you want to get it done, I tell ATL if they want it done before Ryan's bonus hits and they are stuck with it, they add in more assets.

Watson will not be better in his prime than prime Ryan was, so I am not worried bout ATL even with him, especially when they have depleted their draft capital for the near future.
