We have a ton of discussion and hypotheticals but the question is clear.

At nearly 80 years old, will GB reorganize her team if it continues to go downhill? Ultimately that’s what any meaningful change has to start with.

Yes or No.

I’ll start with No.

No, of course not. Gayle has 100% faith in Mickey and Dennis Lauscha. They are a part of the plan to handle the sale of the team after her death. We could have three straight 0-17 seasons and Mickey would not be fired.

The only way Mickey will be held accountable is if he does it himself. If he says "maybe I'm not good at this anymore, I'm gonna take a step back and just be an exec and let someone else be GM". I think this is possible, but we have to have several more bad seasons before that happens.

No. But I agree with Rand, that the only way is if Mickey steps out of the role himself.

I do think DA gets fired though.

No but I do think she would suggest he move into a more ownership type role and he can hire someone else to be GM and give it a shot. Loomis and Lauscha aren’t leaving the org until Gayle dies or sells.

And look, I get the hate for Mickey. I’m fed up with his shite too. But Underhill has suggested that going for Kubiak and going outside Payton’s circle was from the FO. I’m not so certain he’s completely incapable of making the right hire and having a couple of good drafts if he feels the pressure. But right now, he doesn’t feel the pressure and won’t until DA is gone and he’s actually forced to clean house and start over for the first time since 2005.

I think the reality is that he has taken more of a general manager of general managers approach. Adding another layer of uselessness and oversight.

Ireland - scouting man
Harley - money man

I mean I agree. Like I said in my previous post, everyone paints Mickey as the devil and I get it. He’s sucked arse. But he’s proven he can make the right decisions. He had 3 straight 7-9 seasons with Payton and considered making a change with him. He didn’t BUT he did overhaul their scouting department.

He also went outside the box and made the call about Kubiak and getting fresh ideas in there. Mickey might be a conceited, arrogant frickhead, but he is willing to make changes. If he fires DA and fricks up with the next coach, I think he’s self aware enough to know the process isn’t working and there needs to be an overhaul. But that doesn’t fit the narrative.

No, she is an awful owner that is not involved and doesn't really care. She wants to be a socialite, that's why she shacked up with Benson to begin with.

Let's not forget her involvement with the Pedo and Archdiocese she is complicit in sweeping under the rug.

Gayle has no clues as to what is going on. Look at the Dixie Brewery debacle and that should tell you how well she is at managing her businesses.

Let's put it this way, over the Cap this year, and next year. An old team, getting older, and most of that " big money " is either always hurt, or always under performing. Add to that a HC who's never accomplished anything worth while, and has clearly lost this team. How many Owners would put up with Loomis' and Ireland's bull shite management? Only Gayle, as long as the parade of stupid idiot Yat's buying season tickets continues.
