He would definitely be an upgrade over what we have now, but at what cost? They were speculating on Get Up this morning that he could be cut by the Raiders as early as today because if he gets hurt playing in the Pro Bowl the Raiders would be on the hook for that 40 milly!

that's the big question. i think carr is the best guy we can realistically get. if it's for 25mil or less then that's probably a good deal. by comparison, we'd have to pay dalton or any other serviceable qb around 20mil unless we trade for a guy under their rookie contract like davis mills, etc. carr would still be the better option.

also, people thinking we're bad enough to get a top 5 draft pick next year are crazy. we're just good enough to get 7-9 wins a season next year. we aren't garbage enough to land a top 5 draft pick.

my personal option would be to bring dalton back on a 3 year deal and draft a guy with our 1st round pick in '24. it's a deep qb class. we aren't getting williams or maye. after that, it's penix then 3 or 4 other guys who are probably better than everyone in this years class after young and stroud.

Why do people here love to correlate shitty quarterbacks to drew Brees?

We saw it all off-season and the first month with IBlowJamiesSoFar and now we have have it with David fricking Carr. Heres a suggestion…..if you cannot make a sound argument without bringing up Brees, maybe you shouldn’t be making an argument.

You're so fricking dumb you don't even try to argue against why what we're saying

All I was trying to say was a top 15 qb (which is what Carr is by every measure) has that shite of a defense then yeah he won't win games. When drew had bottom level defenses he won more because he's fricking Drew Brees.

Why you even have to throw your hat of dumb into these threads at this point is beyond me.

Carr career...

7.1 yds/att
4.4 td%

91.8 passer rating

Stafford career...
63.2%
272.2 yds/game
7.3 yds/att
4.7 td%
2.4 int%
90.9 passer rating

Pretty similar

I like this. Plus add that Stafford had All-Pro level receivers most of his career years while Carr has not.

We don’t want to win next year why is that so hard for people to comprehend?

How is he an upgrade? Dude threw 9 fricking picks over his final 5 games with a 57% completion percentage. And with a $30 million price tag? You would just be trading one mediocre QB for another at a higher price.

we aren't bad enough to draft williams or maye next year. we can tank all we won't and still won't get either one.

The offensive line is still going to be great when they're healthy. You have a top 10 defense. This team can win next year. There's no reason not to try.

You might think that, and it may be true but Again they're $59 million dollars OVER the cap. They're not going to fix that problem without cutting some "good" players. This roster will not look like this after the deadline to be under the cap. Adding a salary like Carr is going to get is NOT going to improve that situation.

Won't it look better once Mike Thomas is gone? And when has Mickey Loomis and Kai Harley not gotten them under the cap without ruining the roster? I'm not concerned. I'll be concerned if the cap issue is there and there is new management, because that's when things will be bad.

Since we were so good this year right? No you tank the frick out of next year and take a QB, hopefully Drake Maye comes out early. I can’t believe people actually want Derek Carr.

Hope we don't sign Andy Dalton for another year. I can't stand to watch another year of a passionless QB just trying not to lose

Remind me again how’d it go for Carr when he went head to head against Dalton this year.

Hard to take your qb evaluations seriously since you think Winston is good.

But If y’all want to talk wins and losses. Jimmy G has a better win percentage than Joe Montana. One of the best QBs of all time. If you put the right cast around him you will win. He is mr glass though.

It was a Winston vs Dalton debate all year. If you think Winston got a fair shot after getting hurt game 1 then it's not a conversation worth having.

That 49er team is built so well God takes qbs away from them. They were down to their 3rd string and even he was playing well.

So you don't think he would've won more games if the defense was closer to top 15 instead of 28?

Hey lil guy, I don’t give a flying frick if the Raiders had won more games because they’d have won them IN SPITE OF Carr. Raiders could have had the #1 defense in the league and he, himself, as a player still individually looked like a steaming pile of dog shite almost every game this year. The defense doesn’t have anything to do with Carr missing throws, throwing untimely picks, and him completing less than 60% of his passes last year in over half of his started games.

Carr is average. It’s not a narrative. He’s a startable guy but so is Andy fricking Dalton. They’re the same. They performed very similarly last season and Carr had way more talent around him to keep him afloat.

The small amount of games I watched I was very unimpressed by Carr. I don't get trading or paying whatever price he would cost. I would rather the Saints continue to fix their cap issues unless it's a superstar QB.

we aren't that good, but we have the best roster in the nfc south. we're a middling team that has no hope of tanking bad enough to draft caleb williams or drake maye. i would like to resign dalton for 2 or 3 years and draft a qb next year with a better qb class. if we sign derek carr to a reasonable deal, well fine, there are worse qbs to have.

everyone keeps talking about tanking. we'd have to win only 2 - 4 games next year to draft one of the two stars in the '24 draft. that's not happening. i do like michael penix and a few other guys coming out next year over the qbs we can get in the '23 class.
