5th year option was $13M, so no it wasn't.

His option was nearly $14 million which would have but him in the top 10 highest paid CBs in the NFL. (If you just look at base salaries and no prorated cap, it would have made him the highest paid CB in the NFL with Jalen Ramsey).

I think Eli is enjoying his time here and should be glad this team help revitalize his career. Think we have a good shot at resigning him.

Eli Apple plays like a lock down corner sometimes and other times you think he should be working at Enterprise Rent-a-Car

Sometimes players respond better to being put in a tough situation. Contract year players tend to always step it up. Maybe declining his option was the best option for everyone.

We didn't have the cap to pay him 13 million straight up. I think we are going to have to pick between him or Von Bell this off season.

one of the reason's we also selected Gardner-Johnson... considering our recent track record at DB via the draft (Lattimore, Williams, Bell, Gardner-Johnson), i believe they'll find a player to fill that spot...

I vote Apple! Bell has improved, but he’s not as important as Apple. We could find a suitable replacement at safety a lot easier than outside CB

Can’t spell elite without Eli

He’s gonna get paid. Wherever that may be he’s earned it.

I really like both

The next 2 offseasons are going to be brutal. Kinda like watching one of those live talent shows during elimination rounds.

Some of our favorite acts will be heading to new franchises.

Eli was saved from Hell and went to Heaven via the intervention of Saints.

Hopefully the Book of Eli will remember and with a grateful heart stay in the fold

I’ve always thought that Apple is inconsistent, so there’s that.

Some players tend to take hometown discounts knowing their play in a particular system had been very good.

Imagine if the choice was 4/40mil with 22mil guaranteed with us or 4/55mil with 25mil guaranteed with another team.

Potential for 15mil more, but go to a other system and fail and you lose out considering you're likely to play well in this system and be paid close to the 40

They love vonn bell but our defense is so much better with 2 good corners

More times than not these many years our corners were consistently putrid.

I will take 2019 Eli all day long sir
