Cannot imagine what it is like to be a Saints fan right now...

I am a lifelong Steelers fan (since the early 70s and Terry Bradshaw). And over the years I have seen some calls go for and against my Steelers. Two that come to mind are the Immaculate Reception (first playoff win ever by Pittsburgh - we lost the next week to the perfect 17-0 Dolphins) and the no catch by the Oilers in the 1980 AFCCG (Dan Pastorini to Mike Renfro with the refs huddling the end zone to determine what happened - it was bad).
Those can (somewhat) be explained because they were in the era before the replay. Did the ball bounce off of Frenchy Fuqua (Steelers) or Jack Tatum (Raiders)? Did the ball hit the ground before Franco Harris caught it? Cannot tell. Did Mike Renfro get two feet down? Yeah, it looks like he did (would have tied the game at 17-17 in the 3rd quarter). The Oilers had to settle for a field goal. Could have been a huge momentum changer (Steelers won 27-13).
But there is no excuse for what happened last night. We have replay. And that play met all the elements of pass interference (head was not turned around, did not make a play for the ball, arrived before the ball, impeded the ability of the receiver to make a catch) and what happens? No call. I could not believe it then and I still cannot believe it now. You have my sympathy Saints fans. That was an incredible screw up by the league that cost you a trip to the Super Bowl.
There needs to be a system put in place where a HC can dispute one or even two non-calls or penalties per half. This is just ridiculous.

It’s super fricked. Have considered calling out of work today.

Especially in the final 2 minutes in a game changing situation booth review needs to make the right call. We have the technology and it should have been done yesterday.

Pretty much the same way you felt after the Texas A&M game.

I hear you. But there was some leeway in the A&M game. Even as an LSU fan I could have seen it go either way on most of the calls (not the final PI - that was ridiculous). But in the end, that game was meaningless. It was simply bringing a season to a close. This game was for the Super Bowl.
And the no call was not even close. It was horrendous pass interference that was also a blatant helmet to helmet. And nothing happened. You just told every team in the NFL to go for broke in the final two minutes of a close game because you have a better than even chance of pulling it off. That is ridiculous.

I’m sorry but the LSU Texas am game was not to go to the frickin super bowl.

Yeah, that was a horrible analogy. Not even close to the same.

Yes this is completely comparable to a team that lost 2 SEC games already, had no shot of making the Conference Championship, or the Playoffs and lucked out into a BCS Bowl anyway

I keep telling myself, “it could be worse. 28-3 will still be the worst situation I could imagine.”
So there’s always that
So there’s always that

The oilers got hosed. I’ve watched that old play on film.

If you're an LSU fan you should be able to relate to a degree.
LSU was victimized in the same fashion in the College Station scandal, and at the time it happened LSU still had playoff aspirations that died that night. In a 7 overtime game, A&M was penalized 3 times for a total of 15 yards, all on false start penalties (which they can't not flag because it's too obvious).
Not one penalty was called on the home team during live action during 60 minutes of football + 7 overtimes.
Refs ignored the illegal formation on the final TD in regulation, made a bizarre ruling on the Delpit interception on the previous play of an incomplete pass when the ball never even came close to the ground, and were responsible for several other horrific calls and non-calls that artificially extended the game five times until they got the outcome they wanted.
And then the PI on Williams on a ball thrown into the stands...
It really sucks to be a fan of both teams and have to endure that twice in three months.
I'm at the point where the NFL and SEC have destroyed any and all integrity of the sport, and I likely won't ever fully believe that the teams decide the outcomes of big games unless something major is done to start holding people accountable, and that it's effective.
As long as refs are permitted by law to proactively influence the outcome of a game through calls and non-calls, I doubt I'll allow myself to become emotionally invested to the degree I have been all my life.

And you have the fricking defender admitting his intent, and bragging about it today on facebook. If that fricker plays in 2 weeks, the league is really looking bad.
