Glad they didn’t pay $15 million for a premiere LT? That’s what we paid him on his last contract. But I get the injuries and our cap situation but we just lost one of our best leaders and an even better guy. Hope he stays healthy and plays lights out.

It’s $17.5/year and yes, it’s strictly due to his long, long injury history.
He’s an elite HOF player when he’s on the field but averages almost 5 missed games a season. Can’t commit big money to that at age 31.

Saints racking in some comp picks
At least 2 4ths between Williams and Armstead next year
Plus the 3rd for losing Fontenot
Saints need to capitalize. We need fresh rookie contracts on the books because Ram, Lattimore, Ceedy(soon), Thomas, Kamara, etc aren't cheap

No it’s 5/75 so it’s $15 mil per. They are paying him $33 million of his guaranteed money in the first 2 years so they can move on after that without much problem.

All Time Saint and great person
But if history is any indicator that’s going to be a bad contract
Sucks we got saddled with the $13 mil dead monies
That said we can do a lot with that cap space. Sometimes the best deal is the one you don’t make. Buckle up

This is the Patriots model that worked for them for a very long time.

over the cap has NO getting a 3rd round comp pick for Armstead

I apologize for asking this, but do you entertain moving Peat out?

Should get a great comp pick

Marcus Williams got wiped out by signing Marcus Maye

5 years for 87.5 million 43.37 guaranteed. Actually not that terrible.
After I posted this it came out that it was 75 million plus incentives that brought it up to a possible 87.5 mil.
Dissapointed the Saints didn't match. 15 million a year for a premier left tackle is a steal in today's market.
Even if he's oft injured 15 mil per year puts him at the 18th highest paid tackle. Imo you absolutely give him that deal. He's easily top 5 when healthy. Arguably top 1-3.

At some point we gotta stop paying so much for these guys that are on the downslope

it would've made more sense to pay Marcus Williams since he's only 25 and getting better

31 years old for a tackle is not that old. These guys play into their mid 30s with ease lately. Heck, whitworth just retired at 40.

He won't be winning games there....but at least he can choose his misery.

The exception, not the rule.

Good for him but as a fan looking at limited funds this year I understand 100%. Lots of talent in draft and a few on the bench looking for playing time.
He was a great find by the scoutin
Also limited funds next yr.
If watson is the qb you do it. The way teams hit on lts in the first round you had to let him go.
