I'd think a creator would be more like a Rondo, Halliburton, Dragic, CP3, Rubio, etc.

Unless he means someone who can create their own shot - in which case we have CJ.

What's the point of having a Mercedes if you keep it in the garage and never, ever drive it?
Time to move on from Zion. He's way overpaid for the actual games he's been in. I'd rather watch players that want to play, like: Naji Marshall, Larry Nance Jr., Jose Alvarado, Willy Hernangomez, and Kyra Lewis...as well as the current starters.
I know I'll get plenty downvotes but speaking my mind!

Is that not what you've been watching the last few weeks?

If next year is a repeat of this year then that will probably be true. He's only making $13 million this year and you got MVP level play out of him for about 25% of the season which seems like fair value.

If he does come back, that's great, just can't expect it to happen at this point and can't expect ant modicum of health from Zion going forward. It is what it is.

I think the Pels are fast approaching the point where NOBODY...should be considered "untouchable". I'm not saying we should actively pursue trading one of our star players at this time...but...it's time to start keeping our ears wide open...when/if somebody expresses an interest in BI and/or Zion. Bunch of really good players out there...that might not be quite as fragile as these two.

Whether MVP or just MVP Conversation, the basic point was that even for 25% of the season at $13 million you got good production for the money. Next season when he's making $33 million then yes, it's absolutely unacceptable and the money he's making prevents you from having other options on the roster to try and mitigate extended missed time by Zion.

25% of a season for 13 million is not a good return. That no longer makes it a friendly contract. There is no way you would take that it it was offered it to you at the beginning of the season. That would be like paying 52 million for a full season. That's obviously not a good deal either.

You can have Devonte Graham or even Josh Richardson for a full year, or Zion with a decent probability of missing half the year or more. Who are you taking?

If you could guarantee a full season from Zion I think a lot of teams would pay that much. He's a needle mover when healthy and there aren't enough of those to go around.

I see what you are saying here

Zion is a decent value prop at $13M a year for now

The issue is, we spent the 1st pick in the draft on him. So, sure he’s worth more than some random Joe blow making $13M.

He was supposed to be the next Lebron. Not the next, be technically more valuable on your cap sheet than average to below average role players like Josh Richardson or D Graham.

Next LeBron? LeBron plays more today than our hobbled 22 year old after two decades in the league.
Zion will never put in the work to get in top shape and condition like LeBron. Odds are ZW is out of the league in the next 5 years in his mid-20s after having pocketed over $200 Million in salary and endorsements. Not bad for somebody that shows up to work 25% of the time.

the situation is only seeming AWFUL.
he comes back mar 26th able to get 27 6.8 4, everyone is ok.
its still possible.

maybe he plays years with no more issues. he can be like curry.

you just cant make a deal until mr 27 6.8 4 shows up and then you want to keep his smiling face.

his ceiling isnt a thing until hes fully functional.
no one is dealing him low.

Playing half a season is different. You originally said %25. Of course I'd take half a year of Zion over a full year of DG. Not sure why it has to be compared to a crappy player, there are good players on a 13 mil a year contract, but either way, yes give me Zion.

I'd disagree. That'd be the most expensive contract in the NBA by 4 mil and about 10 mil a year more than what Giannis makes and 15 mil more than Luka. He's a needle mover but that is an insane amount of money and would handcuff a team.
