Gun to my head, I think he assumed we were dead in the water and slacked up in his rehab.

And now we’ve caught it again at the right time and he’s not ready to help.

Its absolutely incredible and horrific that this organization from the get go hinted he would be back around the 1st or 2nd week of February.

Everyone involved in handling injuries needs to be fired from Medical staff to people giving updates

At Saturdays game, he wasn’t on the bench until just before halftime. The last time he wasn’t on the bench was the day he had the set back. I was relieved when i finally saw him, but it was odd he wasn’t there in the beginning. Maybe something happened on Saturday.

Either way, it really sucks to be a fan of this team.

“Going through practice” to them means doing absolutely everything with the team at full speed, he was more than likely just doing whatever he is able to do with his trainers/coaches and can’t go full speed until he’s officially cleared to do so

Most likely he either hurt himself again or is more out of game shape than they expected

If he doesn't play again this regular season, I will be pissed. It would be unbelievably misleading by this organization for the second year in a row. They have definitely floated the information that he will be back this year. A big part of the late season optimism, at least for me, has been that he will be back this week with a few ramp up games before play in/playoff games.

Agreed

Still a couple of weeks away at best.

Hope you’re right, but that’s super annoying if we operate that way. Shaq, Barkley, Moses Malone, etc. Dudes were often out of shape after injury or to start the season, but they did everything the team did just at a half arse pace and contributed where they could until they gradually got in shape.

Can’t the dude contribute, even if out of shape?

I don’t understand this narrative of “he must be more out of shape than they expected.” Do people not realize that he is working with Aaron Nelson directly every single day? He is under the care and direction of the entire Pels training staff multiple times daily. This is absolutely ridiculous. This is an organization problem and I’m sick of it.

That’s the problem. They’ve proven to be either incompetent, overly cautious, or both since they’ve been here. They’ve been an abject failure and it’s not even up for debate.

This is why he should be playing Garbage Man Z when he returns. Don’t wear him out when he contribute in other ways

I agree, and you'll hear plenty of former players say what Nelson did for them was awesome, and sometimes career saving, but our injury issue on this team has been unlike most other teams it feels.

I agree with SVG and we need a change in philosophy on how we train and how we recover from injuries.

His decline in vibe?

I get what he’s saying. That dude is hardly standing up at all during games. He just sits there while Jose gets up and high fives like a good teammate. You can exude leadership qualities even whilst following, and Zion doesn’t at this point. I think theres some depression at work here. Seeing this team on a roll without him for the second straight year has gotten him emotionally eating his feelings. Prolly doesn’t ever stand up because he doesn’t want the camera to see all the crumbs in his lap.

Secretly the ascension of TM3 is making trading Zion more palatable.

ESP if you could get Nic Claxton and Mikal Bridges for him.
