Here is the issue: its been reported that GSW has shown interest in like 10 players. They are trying to get a deal done and are looking at everyone. I doubt BI is at the top of the list,

Well when the other options are Lebron, Butler, or KD, that's understandable

I'm pretty sure GSW have 1 plan A/ plan B right now. Get KD from PHX and sign Lebron in the offseason. That is their main focus.

With what money?

BI is looking for $50M and we can’t really even afford him at $40M

Agreed. If our offers for BI are that bad I'd almost rather sign him and trade Zion/ CJ. Its just so difficult to want to keep both Zion/ BI no matter the situation.

We need 1 of them unless we are choosing full blown reset.

We can easily pay BI or any other player $40mil.

That's easier said than done. I'm sure we've been looking to move on from CJ too during all of this

We hit the projected first apron at 34M, second at 46M. If we can move on from CJ, then great, I'd love to. If we can't then we wont have room for much of anything else after resigning BI.

That's also assuming a GM doesn't decide to go nuts and give him the $50M he wants. I just feel like we've done this before during the Lonzo situation. I'd like to get something from him

Yes CJ would 100% have to go. We are about exactly $20mil from the Tax line for next year. So theoretically if we traded CJ + Jose for no contracts or minimums then we could have $55mil to spend between BI/ Top 6/ vets and STILL have up to a 35mil TPE.

We can theoretically pay BI 40mil and add another player for $30mil

And I've even explained that Herb makes $12mil so we could technically go up to $12mil over the tax knowing damn well that we can trade him for 0 salary if things go south by the end of the season. Or Zion, etc if its really bad.

You would have to assume that Middleton would be going out in this trade.

I’m sure Wizards are looking for somewhere else for him to go though. He would most certainly opt in next year, since Wizards aren’t likely to extend him.

Maybe, but I do not want to take on Barrett's contract. I don't want any long term salary for BI unless its a really good player which isn't happening.

I'd rather let him walk personally than take on salary like that

If we are getting a pick and expiring contracts back, then it’s worth it.

Right but Barrett has multiple years left. His deal is not good at all.

RJ fits this team better than Ingram. I have no issues getting a guy his age with his skill level. Maybe he helps unlock Zion. You are going to move on form CJ anyway.
