He and Lively are seemingly clones in the way they play, but he's a positive contributor. I'm not sure why unless its for an upgrade, it aint for a future 1st...they're trying to win now.

Not surprised. He's dirt cheap and an expiring contract that fits into any rotation. We need to trade him and collect some assets. He's probably going to be an easy trade. Just have to see which competing team will give up the most assets.

Yup, good move to net us some seconds and get closer to getting under the tax

We need to negotiate hard and collect as many seconds as we can. We have almost none and they are the commerce of the NBA

On the surface bad deal for Utah, should have a Jimmy Butler deal soon though as this gives Phoenix some ammunition to trade, as they now have 3 1sts they can trade

Utah don't need all of those picks. Their roster is already litered with draft picks in the last 3 years. They are banking on Phoenix being blown up and really bad in 5 years.

I'm assuming the Butler deal is imminent and they have a spot for Beal that he approves of.

Why I’m saying on the surface it looks like a bad deal for Utah, but gotta wait and see what that 2031 pick ends up as

Seems like an incredibly stupid deal for Utah.

Why? It's all going to be late picks from Cleveland or Minnesota. There's no way they're making that many picks. They have a ton.

They traded three first round picks for one. And all three “could” be better than the one. It’s one hell of a risky trade for them if nothing else.

And what if the PHX one is too? Just seems like a really stupid and unnecessary risk.

Unless you think Durant and Butler is going to play at a high level at 40+, I think the probability is good.

That pick is 6 years away. The Suns could do a whole rebuild before then.

I’m not saying it’s not a good pick. But the Suns made this deal most likely because some other team sees three picks as better than one. Two firsts with poor lottery chances for one with possibly better chance maybe makes more sense. Three seems excessive. And I realize how less than ideal these picks are.

Their draft picks are tied up until 2032. They can blow it up within that timeframe but I doubt they will be good once they do.

Utah had 16 first round picks in that same timeframe. With the swap, they're down to 14 with an unprotected 31 pick. I think it's a good move. They don't need 3 first round picks for all of those years.

I’d agree.

Utah turned three likely shite picks into a potential high first.

They sent out -

Least favorable of Cleveland / Minny in 25
Least favorable of Cleveland / Minny / Utah 27
Least favorable of Cleveland / Minny / Utah 29

Tides can change but all those picks look to be in the 20s.

The only good thing about all this for Phoenix is that it gives them the ability to attach firsts to outgoing players, which they couldn’t do before between picks and swaps.

Definitely helps Phoenix be more flexible, as they can now split the picks into different directions.
