Chet is lighter than AD but it affords him to move at a different speed. Gets in the air quicker, handles ball better, better shot from 3 than college AD. Chet won’t play the same role as AD in the league. Mobley is a better comp

He's going to add muscle/weight as he gets older, that's how biology works.

But I think people are underestimating just how much weight Chet has to put on for him to truly realize his potential. Also, his shooting metrics aren't that spectacular from the college 3pt line.

To be fair, Chet has more grit, BBIQ, and skill in his pinky than Hayes has in his entire dumbass body.

Because he weighs 113 pounds and doesn't have a frame conducive to adding much good weight.

I think it’s more about the length for Chet than it is the lateral quickness. You brought up Mobley, but Chet doesn’t move like Mobley. Mobley moves like a wing but has the 7’4” wingspan to go along with it. That’s why he’s so special. Chet moves well for his size, but his switchability is a concern.

Another thing I’ll be interested to watch, another thing Mobley is special at is his ability to contest but not foul. In March at USC Mobley blocked 3 shots per game but only committed 1.3 fouls. This past March Chet blocked 4 shots a night but committed 4.3 fouls per game. It will be something to watch with Chet in the NBA, if he can stay out of foul trouble.

Too punchable of a face and will get broken. If it’s there, take the Purdue kid that’s faster than Dwayne Wade and hasn’t peaked at 19 years old.

He’s too skinny herderrrrrrrrrrr

The guy is an ultra skilled basketball player with incredible length. He’s ambidextrous, can put the ball on the floor extremely well for his size, excellent passer, excellent shot blocker, excellent shooter. He shot 39% from 3 on 3+ attempts at 7 foot. He held his own perfectly fine against Centers that are lottery picks like Duren. Also has a super high BBall IQ.

People are always too focused on what a player isn’t and never focused enough on what a player is and what they can be.

I’d be perfectly fine with Jabari or Ivey or Chet (academic discussion since we are likely at 8 or 9 but we will see).

Anyone we pick this year is unlikely to have a large role anytime soon, so someone like Chet that may need 2 years to start filling out is fine.

I’d take him over Ivey. I do t want a dude getting Westbrook comps and bad d.

Sounds like a klutch client in the making

Watching Chet vs Mobley during USA Basketball practices, Chet moves equally or better to Mobley by my eyes. Chet does have a longer wingy too.

The fouls are certainly something to watch with Chet but we see that often in active, aggressive college bigs. Chet fouled more than Mobley but getting after it comes at cost sometimes

Reb% - Chet 19.6% — Mobley 14.5%
Blk% - Chet 12.6% — Mobley 8.8%

One may question the veracity of data of a guy playing in the WCC. Former Zag Domantos Sabonis was a 20% reb kinda guy in college and carried it over to the league. One of the better rebounders in the NBA

On Chet's future in the NBA, bear in mind the NBA, for obvious reasons, will desperately want Chet to be "the real deal"...& will do whatever they can to help him have a long & successful career.

I seriously doubt Chet will go through the normal "rookie year crap" from the refs...and assuming you think the refs are NOT beyond leaning toward benefiting certain NBA players...this should be another factor in Chet's favor for having a long & successful career. Bottom line: I WANT CHET...and the Pels should do WHATEVER is necessary...to get this guy !!

Dinky do have a point! I agree. He is not just a perfect compliment to Zion, but also is a great fit team-wise.

He is a good defender even at his slight frame. He plays very tough for his size. He is a very good shot blocker, but most importantly he has a bit of "da dawg" in him.

I would take Chet or Jabari Smith as my 1A or 1B. I think it is a fun discussion, but...

***I do believe we will drafting in the eight hole.

I am white. I have no white guilt. I also place no value in white, black, brown, purple, or any other skin color.

What can the player do to help the team? That is what interests us. I, and I think the masses, share this opinion, whether you wanna accept it or not.

Yep...probably gonna take some serious trading up...to get a shot at Chet. But doable, depending on whether or not a team gets a shot at him, but Chet really doesn't "fit" their squad, and they are open to a trade. By the way, anybody have any idea when the last white American was picked #1 overall, in the NBA draft? Been a looooong time.

Utah...you are "on the clock"...assuming you are really ready to get rid of Gobert and whatever else is necessary to move up. Now THAT...would be a perfect "fit"...GGGGG

The Chet hate is the most confusing thing I've ever seen on this board.

Yall really think he's any bigger a risk than Jabari Smith, Paolo Banchero, Jaden Ivey, etc.? They all have risks. Every one.

IMO, Chet has it all. Ball handling, high IQ, great paint defense, great shooting.

It's all your opinions I guess but to me he's the most talented player AND he's a perfect fit for us. Ivey and Smith are GREAT, but if I had the #1 pick, Chet is a very easy decision for me.

I don’t actually see a lot of Chet hate on this board. I see people parsing between a top 4 that doesn’t have a consensus number 1 guy and pointing out a valid concern regarding Chet’s frame.

I personally think Chet will be a good and potentially great NBA player but believe it will take him the longest to contribute between Smith/Banchero/Ivey. The pelicans would be a somewhat unique team drafting in the top 4 because our window is right now. So just me personally, I would take one of the other three over Chet because I want a contributor right now for this team.

I mean, yes they all have risks, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say Chet is the biggest risk amongst the four. But I also think all 4 have really solid floors.

He’s going to be one of the 2 best shooters in this draft

Brether, he made %50 of his 3’s in conference

What C’s can get out & guard this kid if he’s a 40% 3-guy that can put the ball on the floor & pass? You guys got bone about point Zion, shid.

Because current NBA guards and small forwards can push him around and dominate him physically.

His very best would be Manute Bol level. Manute Bol was not going to carry a franchise. Manute Bol also wasn’t a lottery pick.
