He was the projected preseason number 1 and I'm not sure he did anything to disappoint. I see all these crazy comparisons and people creating reasons he won't produce. This isn't the NBA of the 80s and 90s. It's a pu--y league now. The guy has a high iq, a great looking jumper, can handle the ball, and is a problem on defense.
If we have the chance to get him, you run to the podium.

Seems like a very high risk draft pick. He’s also a bean pole. If he can become the next KD maybe that won’t be an issue…doubt that happens though.

Because he's skin and bones. If he was 30lbs heavier, there wouldn't be much said against him.

I'm not saying he won't translate to the NBA, but I think there are more safe choices than him. I feel like he has more bust potential than others.

Imagine how bad it’ll get if Chet gives Zion his meal!

He hasn't snapped yet. Why is it assumed he won't put on weight? Just so much pessimistic thinking. They can all bust.
When he's on the floor he changes the way people shoot. He's got great length.

But why? He has literally every tool an NBA superstar possesses.

We’re in south baw, you can be big enough to be 1st team all defense center and still weigh MUCH less than your office manager

For reference, Kevin Durant (who looks super skinny on the court himself) is 6'10", 240lbs.

Chet is 2 inches taller and weights 45 lbs less.

Durant was 215 at the combine. That's still 20 lbs on Chet and I don't think he was being projected by people to be a center.

Here's the concern I have with Chet. Best case scenario it probably takes 3-5 years to put on the weight/strength to play center. On that timeline how long does it take your #1 pick to earn starter's minutes in the rotation. Something you'd expect by year 2 in most cases.

In the NBA you take BPA over fit, but with our top 2 players pretty well established starters at 3/4, fit is an issue if it takes 5 years for Chet to become a legit center. That's part of why Jaxson is a the top of everyone's trade plans. 3 years in he still lacks the strength to play center and he's listed as 6'11, 220.

Can’t have a thread without talking about Jax. He is a super solid back up 4 with freakish potential. He has played less organized ball than most college players. Jax will absolutely eat when we have point Zion pushing the second unit.

Oh, Chet. I wouldn’t hate if we landed him, I honestly couldn’t pick between the top 4 this year.

We're comparing Jaxson's career path to Chet's? Completely different players. I'm ok with anyone who's watched Chet play putting up flags but if weight is the only concern with him, you take him. His game will translate. Man as much as I hate to see it this may be a case of reverse racism.

No. Like I already said, if he was 30 lbs heavier, the concerns would be minimal compared to what they are now.
