Trae Young has played more than last year. That is the answer. Atlanta is about to start losing a lot more and there isn’t anything Dyson can do to help.

We have lost a lot more because of the following. Games played:

Zion: 16
BI: 18
Herb: 20
Dejounte: 31
Trey: 36

The team has played 52 games. It’s pretty easy to see why we have lost a lot more. Again, Dyson has nothing to do with it.

We went from a top 10 defense to number 28.

So it was a good trade that you’d do over if you had the chance right?

You can't predict injuries, other than Pels do seem to be cursed, so an All Star caliber PG when PG was one of your biggest holes for a 3 & D wing that had no shot at starting or even being 6th man on this roster is an obvious trade you make every time. The only reason you wouldn't is if you think you would be trading Herb.

If I would have known that Dejounte would experience a family tragedy right before the season, then break his hand because he falls on it after getting hit on a three pointer in the season opener, then comes back and 30 games later suffers a ruptured Achilles? Yeah, that might make me think twice.

But based on when the trade occurred and what his track record was? I’d do it every single time. This isn’t an AD situation where we gave up the better player for a player who had a predictable injury situation.

When you stop trying it shows mostly on defense.

I wasn’t aware of that drop off defensively. It seems pretty damned significant.

At least it’s fixable.

Don't we want them to.

I haven't been watching a lot but I have heard several people comment that the team is making some "odd" choices during games that could only be blatant tanking

There is no point. Hawks are winning about the same rate as last year.

We added Murray and winning less than last year but flushed two firsts to do it.
So, you could have predicted the future and that Murray would have the injuries he has had? And Dyson and Murray are the only changes on each team? Huge stretch.

If Murray was playing right now and didn’t have a blown Achilles, I would still do the trade today. I still love the potential of a Murray, Herb, Trey, Zion lineup. If healthy and motivated, that group would be turning people over left and right. And I am still more optimistic than most probably. I just think Murray has a great mentality to really rehab hard and get back on the court. Hard work can’t always fix everything, but I’m hoping for the best here.

The absolute BEST thing that happened to the Pels as far as their chances to succeed with their "tank"...is Herb being out for the season.

Playing lousy defense is the best way to "tank"...without it being too obvious. Everybody can still try & make their shots...but...just make sure the other team is constantly taking easier shots than you are. The tank...will take care of itself.

Not sure it would "work"...to try & get Herb to turn down the defensive intensity. Now...we don't have to worry about that...and I think the results of the Pels' playing truly horrible defense...are fairly obvious...& quite beneficial trying to make this "tank" work.

we suck on defense. plain and simple.

I'll repost this with the updates:

Here's our players individual record when they are scoring 26+.
Trey 1-8 (4 double digit losses) 1 of the 9 games resulted in a positive +/- and 2 were 0
Zion 1-7 (3 blowouts and two 9 point losses) 5 of the 8 were negative +/-
Murray 2-5 (2 double digit losses) 4 of the 7 were positive +/-
CJ 4-8 (4 double digit losses) 6 of the 12 were negative +/- or 0
BI 4-4 (3 double digit losses) 5 of the 8 were negative +/- or 0

Trey had 35, Zion had 29, Murray had 27, and we lost to Dallas by 1
Trey had 41 against Denver, CJ had 35, and we lost by 12
Trey had 35, CJ had 32, and we lost by 8 to Memphis
Trey had 30, Murray had 26 and we lost by 1 to Boston
Zion has 40, CJ has 3, and we lose to the Kings by 5, down by 18 in the 4th.
The one game we won where multiple people had good games was when CJ had 45, Murray had 26 and Trey had 24 against a depleted Jazz team at home, and we only won by 4, in OT.

The offense isn't an offense, it's just a showcase for individuals.
The defense is putrid.

I've avoided pointing out that there may be some empty stats at play because I know how poorly it will be received coming from me. That said, I'd rather them put up empty stats than no stats at all.

Pels are really bad on defense. Pels 3 best players are underwhelming from a defensive perspective. Getting Herb back and adding more size and presence in the frontcourt will help, but they are really going to need significant defensive jumps from TM3 and Zion to stay out of the lottery next year. CJ is what he is and his best contributions can't be as a starter if he remains on the team.

The other big reason for losing is we are an awful rebounding team. We can’t finish possessions and it is killing our defense. To me this is the number one priority for the offseason. Griff gets a pass because of all the injuries but his lack of getting a real center has killed this team and probably would have killed them without the injuries. Zion is a below average rebounder (he is at just under 8 per game), Trey and Herb are also below average rebounders. Yves and Theiss weren’t even close to being able to offset this like Jonas could. We have to get more size and rebounding to support Zion and Trey next year.

It's one thing to lose when 1 guy scores a bunch. Tha'ts not that uncommon.

But when you have two guys go off and you're still losing, sometimes by double digits, that's not normal.

Don't worry. We've got Kelly Olynyk.

Zion is averaging the most rebounds of his career. 7.6 rpg is not below average for a 6’6 forward.
Do y'all realize Zion’s numbers are higher than last year in 3 less minutes per game lol. Smaller sample but his numbers extrapolated are insane this year.

The coach isn’t capable of development or high school level offensive strategy?
