It took Lively 50 games to figure it out. I believe Messi has more potential on the defensive side than Lively. We'll just have to wait and see what happens, but the Pels will get a starting center in a trade before the season starts.

Who did Miami just waive?

Wasn't it center, Orlando robinson.

Sounds like they only cut him since ware looked good.

I hope Griff starts signing a couple centers for nothing.

Hot take

Liam Robbin’s would be starting and we sign a backup in Omer Yurtseven.

In order of what I think is most likely for a trade for starting center:
Kessler
Capela
Okongwu
Allen
Ayton

I think we probably end up signing Theis and Reed though and roll with them as the 5’s next to Missi

Starting to Get a little worried now

Our depth is shattered and we have no front court whatsoever

Dyson, Larry, Naji, Jonas… all good rotation players. No one to fill the hole.. yet…and the way things are going with this BI trade, we might be very lacking if it’s not sorted soon.

I wouldn’t count on a guy that hasn’t played over 40 games or over 14 mpg as a starter. I would sign him as a 3rd big, but we already have Missi there

The center hole will be addressed in some form or fashion, Griff has his faults but he's not dumb enough to complete the Murray/JV/Nance transactions without having a plan at center.

Like the year his plan was to sign Lowery or CP3 to max deals and then got desperate and we ended up with Devontae Graham? A plan like that?

All GMs get saved from themselves at times. Ainge wanted to trade 4 first round picks for Justise Winslow, and Riley turned him down

Everyone is assuming that Griff had a "plan" to fill out the roster after the Murray trade.

I think he had some ideas, but he cannot account for what other teams will do, what they will trade him etc.

He saw a good deal in Murray, so he took it.

Now he has to try and make it work, I don't think he had a "plan" per se.

Almost every other team in the NBA has their roster pretty much set right now.
The Warriors have 14 on their roster, and they are looking for trades to get better.
The Sixers only have 9 on their roster, but their plan for the offseason has worked out for them thus far.

We only have 11 guys on the roster right now. 3 of those guys will be getting DNP's the majority of nights. We only have $8M to spend to fill out the roster, and we dont have a starting center, a backup center, a backup 4, nor have we replaced Naji or Dyson as wing bench depth.
We are running out of teams that are willing to move key pieces off their team b/c so many teams are set and ready for next season.

Everyone else was able to account for it.

He's a terrible GM. Always has been.

What type of center do y'all think fits best with this roster? A defensive-minded/rebounder, a run-and-gun fast break, an outside shooter/space-creator...?

Yea, I could see something like that playing out. I didn't say it was a good plan or that you would like it. I'm sure there is a Plan A, a Plan B, and a backup plan. All I'm saying that our starting center is not on the roster.

Seems like Wendell Carter Jr. might be that backup plan if they can't get Allen or Kessler.

Well, we now have 12 guys on the roster, 9 of which will probably get regular playing time. If we add a starting center we'll have a solid 2 deep.

Now, does the team make sense even with that solid 2 deep? Not really, but we can always make trades down the line.

Serious question here. Did Jonas frick your wife? It seems like you have an unhealthy hate for him beyond basketball. Not sure how you can hate a guy that showed up and played iron man ball every night when most players are divas needing rest days off nowadays. Yeah JV’s game has never been athleticism or playing above the rim but he sure as shite was a double double machine with an advanced offensive game that would suck up rebounds like a shop vac. He was also a model teammate and a great guy off the court who represented this team well and was screwed over by our dumbfrick coach that refused to use his offensive ability to our advantage. Also if you really think this kid would beat Jonas out THIS year, then you are delusional. How about give the kid a year to get some g league experience and garbage time with the Pelicans before you proclaim him a day 1 starter. If he’s our backup center by the end of the season I would call that a major success.

I don’t dislike JV as a person lol. Random arse emotional response. Yeah he was an Ironman, I said he was very skilled offensively. He’s just not needed on this team, Griff agrees, the rest of the league agrees. Y’all are so emotional it’s crazy, we have people saying ship BI off for a 2nd we’re better without him, but acknowledging that JV signed with the worst team in the league and saying he’s vastly overrated is a damn hate crime on this board. No JV supporter can even attempt to justify the Wizards signing, if he was truly still a good piece, a contender would have paid him $10M. Grow up son and stop being so emotional

Emotional? I think I’d call 4 pages of nonsense by you way more emotional than anything I said.
