Outside of moving Jonas, I think Nance told us what needs to happen in Spaces the other day…Trey is our only shooter, and we got dogs defensively but it creates a lack of spacing because they do a lot of the same things well.

CJ needs to go, its clear he is not a PG. Idk how the hell we're going to move him though no one wants his atrocious deal

He also talked about JV, CJ and BI all preferring to hunt in the same 15-17 feet area causing problems on offense. That makes me think they'd want Turner more than Claxton, and the Pels have been linked to Turner every trade season since Griff got here.

thing with the Nance breakdown, it's the same exact issues we would have had last season and after the obvious terrible start, we put together 4+ months of playing above .500 ball with the same team.

And we're not even asking for that, we're just asking to not be a bottom 3-5 team in the entire NBA over the last 30 games.

This team doesn't need a traditional point guard.

I don't think there's a shot in hell Griff trades CJ or BI.

I still would like to keep Jose. Maybe just minimize his role.

He's cheap enough that I think you can keep him around, but if he's contingent on a bigger move, Im not against it TBH.

Upgrading JV is probably going to be the trickiest possible move.

Agreed.

I thin it's 0% either or moved or even shopped.

Totally agree...and the fact we DON'T need it...should actually be a strong point for the Pels moving forward. It gives us leverage to pick & choose someone with strengths we actually need instead of just looking for another traditional PG who nearly always comes with their own set of weaknesses.

Bottom line...we, with Zion & our roster...need a traditional PG about as much as LeBron James or MANY other seriously contending NBA teams needs a PG. Times have changed...Pels better change with them...if they expect to compete.

Just curious, how much could we get in trades for our top 4 guys (Zion, Ingram, Val and McCollum)?

I'd be cool with a team built around Alvarado, Murphy, Jones, Daniels, plus 3-4 lottery picks. They would suck, but that's no different than this year..

trade for a player like Mitchell Robinson who has two very reasonably priced years left.

the Knicks just won 9 or 10 in a row.
undefeated since adding hart.

they are cooking and will enjoy a home series.
10-5 to close does it.
why do they give you Mitchell?
he's a powerful defender and nice fit with randle @ pf.

Look at the main complaint and it's about turnovers or "he's not a PG". Zion letting him slide into a more offball role would change things dramatically.

People hated on Jrue pretty frequently his first few years here because "he's not a PG". But when the team put him in a more off ball role and people were able to judge him for what he was instead of what he wasn't, he became one of the most well liked Pels in recent history.

CJ is very much not a good traditional PG. He's a good player but he's not the dude you want with the ball in his hands late in the shot clock or end of game when you need a decent shot.

He dribbles the air out of the ball too much.

Off ball, he's fine.

Shel will be here to knight for him and post his assist stats. Yes, they're ok and he's fine as a secondary ball handler, but not as your main guy running the offense.

Future backcourt needs to be Dyson and CJ with Dyson at point.

Needs to go, no. But I am not opposed to moving him in the right deal.

I don't think Griff would be open-minded enough to it though, so its barely worth discussing.

There's no scenario where we trade him for a decent value. None.

Ppl forget that with Zion, CJ was a goddamn monster and wasn't having to take off the dribble 3s nearly as much. I've never seen him more open than when it was point Zion.

B.I. is far more likely to get moved.

If we're being honest and not just being nice, you have to question the basketball IQ or just folks being emotional for anyone who has been harping on CJ and turnovers all season.

Like you said, CJ is in more of an on ball role and still turns the ball over less than Zion/BI/Jose/Jonas/Dyson and others, so it seems clear it's just an anti-CJ agenda being built for some weird reason that isn't exactly rooted in facts or anything terribly logical.

So glad you brought up Jrue and this very point. Jrue's turnover % his final 3 seasons with the Pels was 13.6/14.1/14.5.

CJ's turnover % this season is 11.8.

I'd ask again, if it's not basketball IQ or being overly emotional, what is it that is making people think CJ is turning the ball over at crazy amounts when he's factually taking care of the ball very well?

Shel is here to tell you CJ is 3rd in the team in usage behind Zion and BI, so right where he should be, so not sure what your exact issue is with CJ?

It sounds like your problem with CJ is he was our #1 for a bulk of the season with BI/Zion out, so that's not really a logical issue to have with a player to say he's not good enough to be our #1, when he has to be due to injuries.

AGAIN, the bulk of the issues posted about CJ from the same posters are NEVER rooted in facts. They're just not. That's not me being mean or whatever that makes people get all in their feelings when I reply to them nicely, that is just me stating a fact.
