No we know. The trade is judged when it's made. It's terrible.

That doesn't mean there's a 0% chance the value we ultimately realize is bigger than the risk we took on.

Our EV on this deal is negative....very negative.

This is the dumbest take of the night. The trade is graded and judged based on what turned out from it years from now.

If Queen is an All-NBA player, then no one cares what we gave up for him. If he wins us the championship, no one cares.

And if you everything was graded when it happened then why have we had Anthony Davis trade debates about who won it year after year after yeah as additional picks and players were realized from that trade

If a 21W team dangled an unprotected 1st (w/ another team option)from the outset of the draft, who knows what it could have returned.

Not sure what yall are missing

Decisions are judged in real time; not with hindsight bias.

That is hindsight bias.

Now you're shifting to emotional fandom, not decision analysis.

We got historic value for AD. It was an amazing trade for us.

Griffin started unwinding that value on draft night by dealing 4 to move down in the 1st round, and kept that up for years. Add in our cursed injury history leading to more panic moves by Griff and we get the icing on the cake. Those future moves have nothing to do with the analysis of the AD trade.

SFP has mostly embarrassed himself tonight but he’s right about this trade being bad.

He doesn’t understand why, but that’s never going to stop him from pretending.

The crazy thing is he gave them even better odds by making it the worst pick out of the 2 franchises.

such a horrendous pick. you can't defend it. you can like queen but making that pick unprotected is fireable. atl takes that pick with top 4 protection. guarantee Bryson knew how desperate these two dumbasses were to get him and took advantage of it. Atlanta fleeced us twice

Imagine if we just gave away a top 3 pick. Heck make it the top pick so the Pelicans can be the laughing stock of the NBA.
Franchise oozes desperation.

I got mocked on here for saying it was a bad trade last year.

At least it’s almost unanimous that everyone agrees we got fleeced on this one.

just watched Windhorst's livestream reaction to our trade and before he read it out he said "Ive heard from some teams that they may be able to take advantage of the pelicans right now"

insane.

Casual lol . Yeah let’s pass on a potential future all star in Queen to hope and pray and wish we get a top 5 pick again next year like we just did an entire season
