Not mad we didn't make a big move.

Disappointed we did nothing to help our rim protection though. Playoffs will probably look a lot like last year.

That is how you get BI to not resign and Zion to ask out.
If it is the case that this is a tax avoiding move next season and signals we will do what it takes to avoid the tax next season, this is 100% step 1 in how you lose BI & Zion.

Yeah I don’t expect us to make it to the second round but I’d love to be wrong

Not if we make more cost savings moves in the offseason, no?

if we cut temple we're 10M under the tax with 3 open roster spots. very possible we arent in the tax

And that will be gone with a Naji extension and our draft pick

Everyone is overreacting to the trade deadline imo.

Yeah, it isn't ideal, the west got better, Pels only marginally improved.

But if Z/BI/CJ and key players are all healthy then I like our chances against most teams.

We are in the tax regardless next season, dumping Graham doesn’t change that.

Spotrac already has Graham off the books and it shows the Pels at $157, $4.6 below the tax with Temple still on the books but with letting all of our holds (Jax, Seabron, Richardson) walk for nothing. LINK

Assuming Zion doesn't qualify for the Super Max, cut Temple to give Naji a new deal and you can still add a draft pick in the teens and be under the tax line.

They have more and better quality assets than any of our competitors.

Who the frick knows WHAT the Pelicans have...?

Dyson looked pretty good but now hurt
Jose's shot fell apart but also hurt
Nance looked like he regressed, but also hurt
CJ has been streaky, but is playing with a bum hand
Trey can't make his mind up if he's a shooter or not
Naji plays great as a starter, but inconsistent from the bench
Zion and BI together? Seriously no idea..
Zion and everyone NOT BI, looked pretty good..

The one thing we could absolutely be 100% sure of, is that Devonte Graham uses every minute given to him to negatively impact the game.

If we waive temple in the offseason we have ~10m in room under the tax with 3 open roster spots.

If we waive Temple, no one will claim him, and his salary will count against us. It looks like it's fully guaranteed on Bref, is that correct?

Also Josh is the type of guy you sign to a deal like we gave Hart, then use him in a trade.

Any team with CJ, BI, and Z will have a solid chance of winning a series. I like your chances if they get and stay healthy going into the playoffs.

But the issue is the plan to not go in the tax. That would be a huge bummer and goes against what Griff told us Gayle was willing to do.

It's dumb to go into the tax before you absolutely have to due to repeater tax rules. If you're going to go into the tax, do it because you traded for a difference maker, not because you want to keep Graham on your bench for some odd reason.

Certainly seems like the Pelicans got caught with their pants down.

Not just that. It’s Step 1 in losing the franchise entirely. If it’s truly the case, then Gayle needs to sell to another owner dedicated to either keeping the franchise here and making them a contender or just moving the fricking team out of here.

This city wants a fricking winner. I thought we had an owner prepared to do whatever it took. It seems her attention is elsewhere right now…

It looks like it's fully guaranteed

My understanding is that is not correct. Only the 1st two years of his deal were guaranteed, no guarantees at all on the 3rd year.

edit: Just checked spotrac, this is correct. Next year is non guaranteed, so he is an expiring

I'm thinking this might be an overreaction to a deadline where the team improved (both on court and off)... we just didn't add KD or Kyrie - which I for one, am happy about.

The sky is not falling .

Team is still good enough to win a first round matchup assuming health ..big assumption.

I don’t know what deal you all wanted then to make ?

By all accounts Durant chose his own destination

Bridges wasn’t on the table

OG is a temporary solution that doesn’t make you a contender .

Let’s see what happens from here .
