Wemby won’t retire for a while.

He is incredible. The Spurs got so lucky landing him AND Harper. We can’t catch a dam break.

Yeah at the end of the day none of this matters. OKC and San Antonio will run the west for the next 5-10 years

And Dumars is trying to win now and thinks we’re close. He’s delusional. We should be planning for 5 years from now

I thought Spurs chose to let Fox sit this one out...expecting to "let" OKC win this one...guess I was wrong.

quote:agreed but it is what it is. Luckily the new lottery odds will make our win now approach that just leads to play in eliminations more palatable

He’s incredible. The only thing that can stop that kid is injury. Guys his height have notoriously bad health luck especially with the knees but he’s also not carrying the weight a guy his height would normally be.

Spurs just signed him for next 4 yrs/$229M...doubt they planned on moving him...any time soon. Can create his own shot off the dribble...very valuable trait.

Fox really isn't a winning player. Spurs will move him and whoever gets him will probably be screwed, unless it's someone like Houston, that needs a PG so desperately, that a declining Fox is actually an upgrade.

No luck involved at all…
Wemby was going to be a Spur the minute he came onto everyone’s radar, and the league was going to make sure it happened any way possible.
Just like Dallas getting Flagg had nothing to do with luck

There's a difference in trying to win and trying to compete for championships
We are trying to do the former
Sell some tickets .. Host a couple of playoff games. Get your league revenue share check. Rinse. Repeat.

At this point, I’m perfectly fine with that. It is what it is. I feel like the Dad of a so-so little leaguer. I know my kid isn’t going pro and I doubt that he will be a college level athlete, but maybe he can be good enough to make the high school team and eventually start.

People say stuff like this all the time, but you simply don't have a clue how teams or players will like in 3 years, let alone 6-7 years.
I am in favor of kicking the can however, trading everyone but Queen and Fears and being full on rebuild bad for 2-3 years and reaching for the stars to try and get a superstar
Otherwise we are just spinning our wheels as usual

Biggest worry for a 7' or taller player in the NBA is that they tend to have severe problems with their feet. Usually a result of relatively large weight of a 7' player compared to a shorter player...AND the fact their feet are NOT, relatively speaking, larger than the average NBA player.
Bad combination which leads to major stress on their feet...over time...with the constant pounding of landing all that weight...on those relatively tiny...feet. You are definitely right on Wemby's low weight being helpful in maybe keeping him from injury problems...but it's his feet, not his knees..which the Spurs and all other teams worry about with a player in excess of 7'.

Wishing the guy gets injured? Is that our best defense now?
