Yeah I’d be cool with Willie. In fact he could be my #1

So Fletcher mentions him once and he becomes your #1?

His tenure here seems so much longer in my memory. I wouldn’t have blinked if you told me 3 seasons lol

no... I’ve mentioned him a week ago on here as liking him. Just based off wherever he’s gone as a coach, his teams have done well. Plus just what I see with quick glimpses in huddles and on the sidelines for sun games. Once again it’s hard as a fan to judge assistant coaches with little Info we have on them so we just judge what we see

From Jake Fischer (rt'ed by Shamit):

quote:

A new name surfacing in New Orleans’ head coaching search: Phoenix Suns assistant Willie Green, who’s already interviewed and made strong impressions with both Washington and Orlando, per league sources. Another former player considered to be strong at relationship building.

Yeah and his tweets last night make it sound like he knows something is up and breaking soon on Green. We'll see.

I know tweets often are poorly phrased, but I don't get that the Pels interviewed Willie Green from this sentence.

quote:

who’s already interviewed and made strong impressions with both Washington and Orlando,

That's referring to Washington and Orlando, not the Pels. This also seems like something that would leak to a news breaker because of having to get permission. There is a lot of smoke though, maybe between Monty/Willie's ties to the team and Griff's ties to Phoenix they kept it quiet.

Willie green is already a great assistant coach.

I wouldn't mind the hire at all.

Seems like they are going the calm nice guy route.

Lee, Vaughn, and green are all cut from the same cloth.

More from Fletch (I know, I know):

quote:

As I reported last night…
I’m hearing more and more (from very legit sources) about Willie Green to NOLA as Pelicans head coach.

I’m told Pels leadership values NBA player experience which he has…and which made Billups and Vaughn desirable candidates for New Orleans.

I wouldn’t mind Willie Green. I consider him the same as Charles Lee honestly.

I wouldn't mind him either, he's been on the staffs of two very successful teams, and was a former player. I just want someone new, not a damn re-tread.

Willie Green also was a Hawnet back in 2010-11.

He also ended his career with Orlando. Never played for Washington.
