This roster has talent and it will come through eventually. Not wishful thinking. It’s just a probability.

Id really like to have a tally of every thread that started out with this statement the last 5 years.

I believe Zion will eat himself out of the league by that time.

I have hope when I read posts like this that some gm out there will be mesmerized by Zion if he stays healthy for a decent amount of time so we can get real value back and unload him.

That's not how probability works

Are you simply going to gloss over the fact that when that certain player was playing, he was surrounded by G Leaguers for the most part ( and didn’t have Murray, Zion, CJ for the vast majority of that time). Of course you are.

You seriously gonna try to argue that BI on the court would improve our shot profile and BI off the court would hurt our shot profile?

Obviously that's not what I said, despite you trying to frame it that way. I think anyone reading what I wrote would realize what I was saying is its pretty clear that a team playing with essentially all G leaguers and one or two rotation players (whoever they are) would not likely have as good a shot profile as a team that has Zion, Trey, C.J., Murray and Jose. Do you seriously want to argue that?

The roster is too inconsistent with the amount of money laid out to it.

BI needs to go and hopefully we get some depth at the 1, 4, and or 5 in the process just to keep bodies on the floor.

I’m not saying keep them together for years, just this year if we don’t get a decent offer for BI. If you get a good offer you absolutely do it but I’m not sure the Pels will get a good offer.
Are you assuming we will get better offers once his contract expires or that he will lower his demands? Otherwise, you stand a good chance to lose him for nothing.

So you agree that with BI on the court our shot profile is worse and with BI off court our shot profile is better

Got it!

You've ignored all context for years, so this is and unsurprising reaction.

Out of curiosity, where do you rank BI as a player? Top 20, 30, 50?

I think he’s in a weird tier with guys like Julius Randle, Jerami Grant, Kuzma, etc., who put up numbers but aren’t winning players.

It’s simply a typical Shel response. Never an attempt to legitimately debate anything. It’s who he is.

Not in any order but guys I think are better than BI

Giannis
Doncic
Curry
Durant
Booker
Brunson
Tatum
Brown
Jrue
Embiid
Maxey
Jokic
Murray
Davis
LeBron
Kyrie
Ja
JJJ
Bane
Bam
Ball
Mitchell
Lauri
Young
Zion
Sga
Williams
Sengun
Banchero
Wagner
Edwards
Kat
Fox
Sabonis
Cunningham
Wemby
Harden
Mobley
Gobert

Really hard to argue he’s better than any of those.

So let’s say best case is he’s 40. But it’s pretty close between him and guys like

Lavine
Barrett
Lillard
CJ
Herro
Derozan
Garland
Siakam

You simply can’t pay BI. He’s just not that good

Pretty solid list. There aren't many I could argue with. So, he is basically top 50. Cannot invest a max.

This season has shown just exactly how poor of a fit BI is with the rest of the team. It's not even just the shot profile -- it's also how slow he plays on a team that otherwise wants to play fast and run. There isn't a number at which I would want him back next season. BI needs to play for a halfcourt team

He’s Julius Randle. He puts up good stats but none of it impacts winning. He messes up the flow on offense for everyone else on the team, doesn’t play defense, doesn’t rebound well enough.

He’s everything the modern nba is moving away from.

Solid list, people downvoting have Downs

You took the time and delivered a fair, accurate list

This is the issue with the NBA

The 50th best player thinks he deserves a supermax

And I like BI, but that is bullshite and the NBA needs to put their foot down on 2nd,3rd and 4th tier players.

In some ways, but there are still plenty of guys who make their money scoring in the halfcourt: Luka and Embiid, for example. I think that there are teams where BI would be a good fit.

But our whole philosophy now is based on creating turnovers and scoring on the fast break. It's part of the reason that Dejounte was considered such a good fit: he and Herb together are going to generate a lot of turnovers. Missi fits with this. Zion fits with this. Trey fits with this. But BI doesn't fit with this because he doesn't run well, doesn't create many turnovers, and doesn't finish well on the break.

Just look at what happened to the Kings. They acquired a near clone of BI in DeRozan, and it slowed them down and crippled their offensive production. BI is doing the same thing to us when he's on the court.

Does he, though? You're talking about a hustle system. Zion is not exactly a high effort kind of guy.
