So, forget the garbage offer the Lakers threw out. The Pels feel like THIS is the real Godfather offer:

Ingram, Kuzma, Ball, Zubac, Ball

Picks: 2019, 2021, 23, 25 and every second round pick from 2020-2025

Cash: TO pay off guys sent to 3rd team or cut as a result of uneven swap

Take: Solo with AD

But, on top of that, the Pels really only like Ingram. They like Ball too, as a player, but not all the other junk.

So lets say the Lakers finally come around and agree to the Godfather. The two teams would also have to find others to ship assets to. Lets throw out some hypotheticals:

-- Ball goes to Suns with Solo. Pels get: Josh Jackson, TJ Warren, Milwaukee 2020 1st and Suns 2020 1st top 5 protected

-- Niko and Kuzma go to Philly. Pels get: Zhaire, 2021 Heat pick, 2021 Philly pick.

-- In a separate trade, Randle and Moore got to Nets. Crabbe, Nuggets 2019 1st and Knicks 2019 2nd come to Pels

Pels have the following potential long term players:

Payton/Frank
Jrue/Zhaire
Ingram/Jackson
Warren/K Williams
Jah/Zubac

They also have Crabbe as an expiring next year to use in a deal. Now, the picks....

2019 - Pels first, Lakers first, Nuggets first, Knicks 2nd
2020 - Pels first, Suns first, Nuggets first
2021 - Pels first, Lakers first, Sixers first, Heat first

Also have all the Lakers 2nds and Lakers first in 2023 and 2025, in addition to all your own picks.

You have a solid core already with upside. And now you have a treasure trove of picks to get the next guy who asks out. Heck, maybe the next two. Beal demands out next year and Wash finally accepts it? Cool, here is Crabbe, Josh Jackson and three firsts. I still got a ton of talent plus future assets.

THIS would be the Lakers deal they would consider. Still unlikely, but forget the offers that have been leaked out. THIS is what it would take to get it done and the Pels have the Lakers running around seeing what they can get for their other pieces. But again, still unlikely.

Nice hedge.

What’s the negotiating tactic there?

I imagine it’s basically just, “here is what it’ll take, see you again in the summer if no”

I think the good thing about this is it would push other teams to come with strong offers. You still would be stuck with a team where Jrue is your only B level player. I really want Tatum + in everything Boston's warchest or Zion and all the Knick/Mavs picks, but the most important thing isn't all the extras, it's getting that other B or better player in Tatum/Zion.

Otherwise you need to trade Jrue and start The Process which ownership seems to have no interest in.

We get a pair of balls from the Lakers? As long as they aren’t Magic’s I’m good with it

He always hedges so he doesn’t look bad when it doesn’t happen, but gets the credit if it does happen. Other posters don’t wanna see it though

He has said from the beginning that they are going to make ridiculous trade demands from the Lakers that would require moving parts from multiple teams and make them run around looking for it.

So this would fit in to that. This deal will never happen.

Its too much and too many moving parts.

That is an insanely crippling proposal for LAL.

Question though: are the Pelicans shooting themselves in the foot with asking for so much?

Those idiots can't read. They are obsessed with me for some reason. Let them jerk each other off and ignore them or they will ruin this thread like they ruined the other.

Real talk, Pels can play time against the Lakers, and build up the Lakers belief in the “big market effect”. Lebron is a ticking clock, and he needs AD now. Draft picks won’t help him when he’s retired. Plus this whole thing is built on the Lakers being the big market kings, winning every free agent they want if they have a star or two already. If you can get any free agent you want, why do you need draft picks? AD gives them the additional star power to build a Warriors-level roster through free agency. That’s worth all those draft picks that may or may not pan out, and won’t pan out until Lebron’s time is up

You get a lot of upvotes. Probably more upvotes than clicks on those articles you used to write

I don't think so. We're just getting a lot of nickels back in the dollar anyway. But it's smart to ask for the world first and work back from there. This is a top 20-30 all time guy we're talking about

that seems like fan-fiction

as does that

so pels get a 1st for taking crabbe, in a vacuum that sounds reasonable, i'd do that deal regardless
