I'll give them Jax and Temple for Poeltl if they are just giving players away.

I guess the Hawks reasoning is Dejounte defense counters Traes lack thereof. Trae good at perimeter scoring, Dejounte better inside

I watched a highlight clip of Victor Wembanyama a few days ago and he's just crazy. He moves with the speed and fluidity of a small guard, but he's as monstrously big as a Shawn Bradley type. It's like watching a high schooler playing against middle schoolers on the 8 foot baskets. If the Lakers don't get the #1 pick I hope it's someone in the East.

That would be a weird, bad trade.

I do not get the fit with Murray and Trae Young at all.

What is bad about it? They need defense in a bad way.

He also didn't play that well, as well as "best prospect in a decade", in Europe so far.

I think people are projecting/hoping he has a much better year this year.

I think he will be a nice player, but I’m not all that sure that he’s better than any of the 3 bigs that went at the top this year, Mobley last year, Barnes, Lamelo, Ant, Cade, Morant, Zion, Etc

I don’t think he’s worth tanking for more than any of those guys were. Far too much hype imo.

Murray is obviously good defensively, but what is he going to do on offense when Trae Young is holding the ball 99% of the time?

Currently the Hawks only have one ballhandler, they are too easy to shutdown in the playoffs because teams just scheme to double Trae, adding a defensive guard next to him who can also handle the ball makes sense to me

True but I'd just be surprised if Trae happily gave up having the ball in his hands.

FWIW, the trade details are fantastic for ATL if that were true, but I still don't get the fit.

Yeah, and I get that Murray is better with the ball in his hands, but I think they'll figure out a way to co-exist.

Fischer said that they've talked and want to play together, not that players are the best evaluators of fit though

KD says Hello

I'd still do the deal if ATL is getting him for cheap.

I just want to see if we can dump any salary on and/or steal any players from the Spurs.

I know its weird, but Poeltl as a backup to JV at pure 5 is an ideal thing to me.

Not weird at all, we do need a big that can protect the rim. I still somewhat worry about someone who is a "true" 5 being brought out the perimeter due to switches and being taken advantage of in that manner, but it's better than having a big on the floor who can't protect the rim or defend the perimeter

It's about time a team stands up to the foolishness.

Poeltl would be super interesting

I'd even throw in a pick, maybe. He's also an expiring...

Also, if I'm Atlanta I'm in a "let's add another star and just figure it out/go from there" mode. The East is really stout right now, you're going to need at least two stars to compete.

I'd def give 2nds.

Poeltl would be a situational player, for when we need defense and rim protection.

Nance would obviously be the primary backup and small ball 5, and in for Offense and often in the end of games.

I think the idea at the time was that Brooklyn would likely be competing for 3-4 years before it fell apart. Not 3/4 of a season.
