That is ridiculous--Eventually, guys will be getting $100m a yr and the rotation guys will be getting 50m yr

If that means you get your star players to stay 10+ years, I’d say these max contracts are finally working the way it’s designed to.

So? The NBA had a record $8.9 Billion in revenue this past season. In 2012 it was "only" $4 Billion. If it seems like players are getting twice as much as they used to, it's because they are and they earned it.

Question is whether it is working as intended.

Dame is performing well for what Portland pays.

Bradley Beal is a star for Washington but they aren’t likely to win anytime soon despite the amount they are paying him.

I think you are right in a sense, but the more the players are paid, the more the player/coach/front office/ownership balance gets out of whack.

The league is already arguably broken from this standpoint with incessant trade demands and “player camps” having more power than half the organizations in the league.

Paying these guys even more probably is not going to resolve these issues.

At some point, when is enough enough? Maybe they could take a very tiny sliver and throw it the way of the fans and stop continually raising seat, parking and concession prices.

It’s a scale. It’s not like teams are pulling money out of their asses to pay these guys.

I do think it's only going to make Ben Simmons type of situations worse, but it's not like they are going to lower ticket prices and give money back to the fans. If the players don't get it, the owners will. If you think the players don't deserve more money, then the owners really don't deserve more.

People often get upset at how much celebrities and athletes get paid because from our non baller, layman's view you get paid for work and work = effort. So we think "They aren't working 50 billion times harder than me, they don't deserve that." But you don't paid for work, you get paid for value produced. And when the value you produce can be scaled internationally and consumed by billions of people, that's when the pie gets big enough that everybody involved gets paid in monopoly money.

I agree. That is basic economics. However, fans are unfortunately not represented at all at the negotiating table. If only there was a factor by which fan costs were considered in the calculation of dividable revenue. Instead, the more they charge us, the more both the players and the owners get.

Interesting that Harden is giving up money to try to win a ring, and Dame is taking the bag and giving up any hope of a title.

Not sure if it’s been discussed or not, but didn’t see it when I scrolled up, but Lowe suggested a trade package of Bridges, Cam Johnson, Saric and 4 firsts for Durant as possibly a fair deal. Windhorst chimed in at the end and said that he doesn’t even think the Suns have made that level of offer for Durant.

Sounds like the league is really holding strong and lowballing for Durant. You have to think Atlanta and Minnesota might regret blowing their trading capital before Durant asked out.

I agree. If Durant asked for a trade before the draft, the Nets would've gotten a treasure trove for him.

Jazz are listening to offers for Bojan. I’d be okay with a trade of Jaxson and DG for him. Has 1 year left on his deal.

He's 33 and his defense is really in decline. And, if we want a wing shooter, well, that's what Trey Murphy is for. Jaxson is a better player than Bojan, so I'm not interested.

Is Jaxson a better player than Mo Bamba?

Sources: The Orlando Magic signed Mo Bamba to a two-year, $20.6 million deal, which is fully non-guaranteed for the 2023-24 season, @hoopshype has learned.
