To me he looks a little more bulked up, and he looks better on D than last year. We all know the shooting is there. I’m not personally worried in the least from 4 summer league games.
118 minutes played:
FG (18-60) 30%
3pt (6-25) 24%
(4) steal
(1) block
(18) turnovers
This is againt garbage players. His defense isn't much better. You have lesser talent whopping 3's on him and picking on him. Not sure what you are watching.
His shot better be there or he's not an NBA player.

In approximately 1139 minutes he shot 36.6% from 3 against NBA competition. Shame on you for using a bad sample size.

Time out.. Don't come at me like I'm hating.
The people saying he's "improved" other areas are being dramatic as frick.
He's getting bullied against lesser opponents and has shown minimum improvement elsewhere. And whatever y'all think he's showing is against lesser talent so has he improved anything?
The bigger opinion is due to his shite arse attitude and decision making when it got tough. Dude is fricking soft.
I'm not ruling him out and I hope I end up eating my words.
But even at 36% this dude is barely an NBA player lol.

Half the people here fought me > Dyson's potential and that dude had an elite skill set and was a solid passer.
Hawk literally can't do jack shite and is shooting 24% for his "elite skill set" that he only hit at 36% last year.
But he "improved defense" and people who are worried are overreacting?
Trash Dyson for his offense even though he's an elite defender. And praise Hawk for his "defensive improvement" while shooting 24%
This place is so fricking backwards.

I haven’t figured out how to quote on here from my phone but to respond to the last two posts. I think you basically took the 2nd half of my post and ignored the first because I told you exactly why I think he’s struggling in summer league.
And for the follow up post, exactly, 118 minute sample size is lol, you can’t draw any conclusions from that especially given the quality of play from everyone on the court, no offense to them, but it’s not the same as an nba game.
Looking forward to the season.

The vast majority of takes have been trashing Hawkins in every aspect. One guy tries to say a positive thing and he’s arse backwards?
Saying Hawkins looks better on defense is hardly praise. He does look a little bigger and more aware defensively, that is not the same thing as saying he’s a good defender, he’s not, he’s just seems a little better.
Shooters go through ruts, it happens to everyone. Even happened to JJ for a stretch with us. People aren’t worried about his shot because his form hasn’t changed and he shot 38.8% on catch and shoot threes last year

Half this board didn't fight you. The only guys I even know that hated on Dyson still praised him.

A small sample size where he couldn't play off ball and he was a rookie last year that shot league average.
He also won us a game against the WC champs.

Same bro, it’s why I wanted to move Hawk in any trade and keep Dyson at all costs. The reasoning for others on here was his 3pt shot was the most desired skill in the league.
I think the biggest debate for me on here is Hawkins vs Cam Whitmore. We’ll see if this turns into another Griff frick up.
Rockets just shut him down after he dominated SL two years in a row. While our guy is struggling. But maybe he’s not built for SL after not looking good two years in a row.

I would have loved to keep Dyson as well, but the Hawks weren't moving Murray without Herb or Dyson going to them.

Bookmarking this thread for when Hawk has a 20/4/4 game and everyone acts like they believed in him from the start.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Dyson was the Hawks primary target. We weren’t getting Murray without losing him
ETA: primary target after they realized Herb was untouchable

The Hawk hate because of summer league is absurd on multiple levels. The offseason has barely begun and people are all "he didn't improve in the offseason!" The way this team was (poorly) designed, they clearly wanted Hawkins to sink or swim as a playmaker. Now that he has sunk, he should have a good idea of what to work on the rest of the summer.
He will be fine in his regular role of movement shooter. The main question to me is, if CJ eventually ends up coming off the bench, where does Hawkins get his minutes? I can't see Willie playing Hawk and CJ together much.

Plenty of posters on here said they’d move DD before Hawk lol.

The 5th guard won't get many minutes anyways
Murray
CJ
Ingram
Jose
All will play guard positions, with Herb filling in at times too.

So you’ve come to this conclusion after watching 4 summer league games with mostly non NBA players? Hawkins hasn’t improved at all; coaches are to blame; no progression. I get theres nothing else on TV but you don’t think this is a bit of an overreaction?
Yaz gonna Yaz.
Like I told you earlier when you lashed out, this is an observation from last season through now.

Yeah they also argued with me that the Hawks didn't want Dyson.....
Y'all can say people are overreacting about summer league and that's fine. You can't also say shite like "well we know he's got a shot so everything else is good"
The Hawkins that played the last 4 games isn't an NBA level player. If the only thing to be hopeful for is that "Hawk can shoot in the regular season" then I'll hold my breathe knowing he's shooting 24%.
24% and y'all are pumping sunshine. Regardless of summer league that's not good for a guy who can ONLY shoot.

The cam Whitmore situation is being repeated with Terrance Shannon Jr.
Teams are going to regret passing on him. I don't understand why teams don't trade back into the draft to grab a guy like him.
