I think Adams can be a double double machine which is well worth his contract. He averaged 14/10 against us pelicans in 4 games last year.

I understand you can't have all rookies, but what are you keeping guys like bledsoe and Adams around for?
So what's your suggestion?

If it's not all rookies, who should we be getting instead of Bledsoe and Adams?

Also remember, if we're going to use all those trade assets to get a really good player down the road, that player will likely be on a big contract, and we'd need salary to be able to send out. Adams' salary fits that criteria.

The big trade kicker in Adams's extension makes that harder, though. We aren't planning to ship him out.

Yep. Such a solid move by griff

He brings everything you want in a center and a vet.
The fact that they only had to give him 2 years shows you griff won the negotiation.
Love the way Adams sets screens
He does all the little things

They needed this because zion isn’t a great defensive rebounder

I’m not sure if this has been discussed or not, but I’m assuming this extension starts next year correct? So Adams’ cap number this year is still about 29 mil. Just checking to see if it gave us any cap relief or not.

Yes, the extension doesn't kick in until the 2021-2022 season so he'll still be $29m this season and we ae still $500k below the tax.

Extensions used in “extend and trade” scenarios can only be for 2 years. But I do think it was smarter to do the extension now and lock him in for 3 total years, than going into free agency and maybe having to pay him for 5 total years (even if the per year average salary is less in the 5 years). Basically 3 for 64 > 5 for 89, IMO.

Antonio Daniels, who covered the Thunder before joining the Pels broadcast, comments on Steven Adams.

I LOVE IT. This Pels squad was 5th in ppg last season, scoring wasn’t the issue. Pels fans will quickly find out why Steven is so beloved in OKC. He is tough as nails and PLAYS HARD every single play. In a pace/space league you still need a DEFENSIVE anchor. Enter Mr. Adams

Someone else said it earlier, but we just added a 7 foot Josh Hart to protect the rim. That should help a lot.

Serious question, do you just make stuff up to support whatever point it is you’re trying to make? You said this is going to be Adams’ age 28 season when he will play this entire upcoming season as a 27 year old. You said his mpg make Giannis look like a freshman, yet they came into the league the same year, and Giannis has played ~3,000 more total minutes than him.

Is Bledsoe considered a hustle guy like Hart & Adams?

If so, we should roll out

Bledsoe
Hart
Zion
Gabriel
Adams

Make Zion feel bad if he doesn't keep up.

Yes, Bledsoe is a little bulldog out there. Playing hard is not an issue for him.

It's pretty amazing how small a regulation size basketball looks in the hands of some of these dudes.

For those complaining, Adams is/will be a good contract at 17.5 per. Rudy Gobert is on the verge of signing a full 5 year max with Utah, Bam will likely get a full 5 year max with Miami, Jokic is on a full max. Embiid is maxed.

I don't think they're worth twice as much as Adams.
You really don't think Jokic or Embiid are worth that much more than Adams?

100% guarantee, if Adams hits the open market next season he would have gotten 20-25 million per year.
Not a chance. Centers like Adams do not draw those types of contracts any more. I understand wanting to be excited and act as if the Pels made a steal, but that is a bit of an exaggeration.
