2/35 isn't bad for a guy who will be 28 and arguably the top C on the market next year

That’s actually a very fair deal. The trade makes a lot of sense now. They wanted Adams here until Hayes is ready to supplant him.

I like this a lot. Gives the Pels a consistent solid starting center for 3 years instead of a rental one year.

Getting an extension done this quickly rather than waiting to possibly get more as a FA says Adams feels pretty comfortable about coming to NOLA.

Unless I'm missing something, 4 years ago, he signed a 4yr/$100 million contract.

17.5M/yr seems far more palatable than $25M/yr.

Not crazy about not having the cap space next year but I don't think we would have been good enough to attract a max player yet. Smart long term move. Solidify your front court for 3 years until Jax is ready.

It's not a good deal for the Pels, but it's in the "I can live with it" price range.

This makes what we gave up much easier to swallow.

I speculate that It had to be part of the agreement for the Pelicans to send out the assets they did to get him.

I think it’s a really good deal. Adams had no obligations to extend. He would likely have gotten more overall in the open market. He must really liked the fit.

What I'd call doubling down

Actually 2 years makes it much easier to accept

Love it! A little more than I hoped, but about what was expected. So they had this planned the whole time it seems.
