I'm sorry what? one of the best 5's in the league? Steven Adams?
The guy that shoots 50% from the FT line, which leads to his below 60% TS% which is uncommon for centers that never shoot 3's. For reference, Jarrett Allen is 66%, Capella 63%, Zubac 65%, Poeltl 63%?
The guy that has never finished top 10 in rebounding?
The guy that has finished top 20 in blocks once, at 19th?
The guy that has finished top 20 in DRtg once, at 20th?

and I have always liked Steven Adams, and still do, but get out of here with one of the best 5's in the league.

You must think he's the luckiest motherfricker on Earth, because he just KEEPS getting lucky in the draft, apparently.

Almost all of the draft is luck. There was no one who thought that the Warriors drafting Wiseman at #3 was a bad move. Or that Scoot at #3 this season was bad. Sometimes, guys just don't pan out. At other times, unlikely stars emerge.

It's because we're people, not robots. There's just no way to predict. Part of good drafting is making your own luck, and it's something that can only be judged over time.

Virtually every pick is luck.

Hell, we're a perfect example of that. We got one of, if not the, best prospect since Lebron, and even he hasn't really lived up to those expectations.

So not only is every other pick a function of luck, even the can't miss dudes have a level of luck associated with it too.

It's all a crap shoot.

What does that have to do with his dumbass S&T that wasn’t necessary to include a 1st to sign Graham. Charlotte must have laughed their asses off once Griff agreed to give them a first.

You don't think how well he has drafted compared to his peers has any bearing on whether he has done a good job/whether or not he is a dumbass GM?

You're calling him a dumbass for a bad trade and picks but no credit for the good trades and just luck for the good picks.

I know i said pure luck, but of course it requires some skill to find those diamonds in the rough.
I think they have done an excellent job in finding guys that have the right off the court skills needed to have a fighting chance to make it in the league. Drafting Herb Jones in the 2nd round is a much smarter pick than drafting Chiek Diallo or Frank Jackson.
I also think we've done a great job of helping develop Herb, Naji and Jose into not just making the league, but being key contributors to a winning team.

I'm always one that says you make your own luck. It's still lucky we hit on them, but i can acknowledge that we helped increase our odds of finding those good players.

He has a history of bad drafts. I would attribute the better drafting to him delegating it more and being less a part of it.
David Griffin knows nothing about playing or coaching basketball. He has zero experience in it. He's a marketing guy who worked his way up the ladder to a GM role. His marketing skills, which impressed many and helped him move up, is that lying snake shite you hear from him everytime he talks, and why no one believes much of what he says.

What are these good trades he made?
I without a doubt give credit for going get CJ at the cost we got him at. That was a steal.
A monkey could have made the AD trade.
Signing free agent DG cost us a 1st and 4 seconds.
We lost Lonzo for basically nothing, and don't sit here and tell me the CJ trade doesn't happen without Tomas fricking Satoranksy's contract. That's such a stupid thing to assume was irreplaceable in that deal.
The Jrue trade really didn't work out well at all. We gave up an extra 1st and George Hill just to get Adams, then had to move down in the draft to get rid of him, and throwaway at the time George Hill fetched OKC two 2nds, and we lost Kenny Hustle in that deal. we had to give up a 1st to get rid of Bledsoe, who right after we did that, was traded by Memphis for basically nothing.

He gave up 2 2nds to get an expiring Favors as our starting center to start 2020, didn't do well, he expired, and he just went and resigned back with Utah. and that started the trend of our idiot GM giving away assets to get slow lumbering centers that can't shoot to play with Zion.
He missed an opportunity to get some assets to move Etwaun at the trade deadline, even though he had fallen out of the starting lineup but was still a good 3 point shooter off the bench. Etwaun expired and then went and signed with Phoenix.

Every GM has bad moves in their history. No one is perfect. But Griff has made some obvious blunders that has caused us to lose assets for no reason. I wouldn't call losing two seconds to get expiring Favors a blunder, but it was still silly to put a center like that next to Zion, and everyone thought that but him.

This same argument occurred in original Adams thread. I can go bump it if you like. It’s pretty embarrassing some of the takes on Adams. And there were plenty that tried to say he was a top 5 center at the time. It’s laughable.

And yes Griff passed on Lauri at the deadline, and I’m sure if he really forced the issue he could have had him. Supposedly he was offered for a first after the Bsll trade and Griff declined, when the free agent market dried up. Guess he didn’t want to look stupid after turning him down for Ball. Guess he wasn’t as high on Lauri as I was.

Don’t leave out one of his biggest blunders, trading down for Jax. He sits tight at 4 and picks the swing for the fences pick in Garland who most people had as the 4th best prospect and solved our issue at pg, or Hunter, who was the best player on a championship team and maybe could have instilled some maturity and championship pedigree into Zion when he needed it his first couple years. Instead we draft one of the biggest knucklehead immature prospects to pair with Zion. Not a good receipe when building a team from scratch and trying to set a tone.

I never understand people constantly rehashing bad signings, trades and draft picks. shite happens. There are hits and misses. All that matters now is maximizing what we have.

I like, borderline love, most of what we got. I'm waiting for shoe to drop on Ingram and Zion, whether they can stay healthy and if they stay long term. I really don't want to move anyone else. Only upgrade I can point to is Zellers spot. I know that Nance can play there, but I'd like more size in case one of our bigs gets hurt. Otherwise it's looks great to me..
