Or move it in a smaller deal for vet depth

Anything can happen, but those are the most likely scenarios.

So please do not Melt uncontrollably when we don't make some monster move.

I’m already on the Cason Wallace or Jalen Hood-Schifino bandwagon.

I am hoping we leave tonight with a future first. My ideal is to maintain this asset moving forward in a possible consolidation trade scenario for a real player. We shall see.

1000% Will take someone that people will try to convince was a great pick then will end up adding little to no value to a team built up with a great deal of young talent already.

It's a tough spot to be in... the right move is to move it and find a better way to manage the situation... currently brewing.

Only way the pick is used and is useful is if they do not have much faith in their current constructed plans and need to think past those plans and if so this pick/player will be part of the "Plan B" phase.

We have a war chest of future firsts. Either we go hard to get Scoot or cash them in for a superstar like Dame. I don’t think we’ll do either but my question becomes whats the freaking point of gathering all those firsts if you aren’t aggressively going after a star like Dame or trying hard to get Scoot. Those firsts will eventually rot and next years draft is pretty bad. I judt don’t understand Griff’s mentality here to be status quo.

If we stay at 14 we take a high upside pick like Nnaji imo. We have enough solid role players, time for another swing for the fences for our future big man pick.

Same if we trade down.

I would still like to see Kira moved for Gallo. I think Washington would bite on it simply for Kira’s upside.

It's a fine line between being a genius and a tard. Ainge played Utah beautifully. But he totally botched Boston's war chest, waiting for the perfect move.

He also tried to trade a chunk of it for Justice Winslow.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky.

I think Griff is waiting for a desperate team.

Hes waiting for a desperate team? Isnt portland desperate??? Either they need to trade the pick or Dame.

I dont know- Scoot or Dame isnt justice winsloe but I get your point. To me the worst you can br is status quo because then those picks dont matter. Take your shot, use your ammunition and you fail you at least used everything you had. But just holding on them for no reason, its getting silly.

They rot if you make the pick tonight and then don’t find that player playing time. They continue to exist if you trade them for a future pick that remains an asset. And I’m ok with not going all in “yet”, when our best player is 22 and hasn’t been healthy for the playoffs.

longhorn
you do not like Lively?
you do not concur with the TD wisdom we need a mobile defender at the rim?
did you see him play?
I would take him even higher if the 14 was actually 8 or 9.

also Kansas dick can shoot.
I always want deadeye dicks on my deep bench.

Not really.

There are at least 5 teams I can think of off the top of my head that have far more picks than us over the next several years.

Unfortunately Lively probably isn't going to make it to 14. I personally don't think they should reach for a center if it isn't Lively. Nnaji isnt going to contribute anytime soon and TJD is more of a forward than a center.

I think they just need to take the BPA at that point.

You never pick for need in the NBA draft. You always pick BPA. Your team won't look anything like it does now when most of these guys enter their prime.

But they aren't giving up that pick for future picks.

Don't totally disagree. But wtf is OKC doing? No way they can use all those picks.
