people are enamored with Sheppard and his 52% 3 point shooting.
He's 6'3". 185lbs.
He's undersized and not very athletic, and not a PG.
His "good defense" consisted of gamblign to make a bunch of steals. He'll get abused in the nba by opposing SG's and he'll need to figure out how to adjust to that.
That's a guy you draft 17th, not 3rd.
He's cieling is probably CJ as a best case scenario. Likely very similar players if his shooting translates, and likely have the same weaknesses. I also think he's a guy who's likely going to take 2 years to be worth a shite.
And when i say his cieling is CJ, the likilhood of him reaching that level is slim, and again would take a few years to get to that point.
all that beign said, Kentucky gaurds should be given the benefit of doubt with their history.
But i still say his size and skill set is someone you take in the teens, not top 5.

Im not exactly sure what you define as a PG but I felt he operated in that manner in Kentucky. Size is an issue but basketball IQ and defensive intangibles despite size are a plus. I don’t think hes similar to CJ in that manner at all. CJ coming out Lehigh was never known for his defense. And you can’t dismiss him making steals as just gambling.
Personally I think his game may not make him as good as CJ offensively but he maybe a better fit for the Pels. I also think he will hold his own defensively despite his size because of his IQ especially on the defensive side of the ball. But I could be completely wrong too. Like you I lean towards his Kentucky pedigree as signs of success as well.

Can we get a definition of a point guard? At this point I have no idea what it means.

Then use all of future firsts to trade Adams away again
No, you don’t extend him, he’s a 12 million expiring salary
Instead you package his salary with other salary and picks and go get you a center

Capela should be available if the Hawks are rebuilding.
Or we could see if Ogonkwu is available.

I've been asking this since yesterday afternoon and nobody is answering.
We know this draft is not good. We should have traded BI last summer for a top pick in last years draft. The disconnect is that you’re way overvaluing BI. It’s a huge risk for a team to take a guy with one year on his contract who wants a max contract. Especially when that guy has proven he doesn’t deserve it.

Kentucky pedigree, work ethic, basketball IQ and has the tenacity to be a better defender than CJ. I also think he’s not that bad of an athlete, either.

While this makes a lot of sense, I disagree because trading him last year likely meant getting Scoot, Miller, or one of the Thompsons. I would much rather turn BI into any of the following:
Topic
Trae Young
Dejounte Murray
Alex Sarr
Reed Sheppard
All are better options for this team than anything available last year. The only exception is Dame, and he had zero interest in coming here.

Not really
He's just with a LOT more than #5 in this draft
People are way under-valuing him. He's a top 40-50 player. 25/5/5 guys with good %s and playmaking ability are not common. Yes, he has limitations and he doesn't fit with Zion, but he's not some scrub.
We just see his limitations and his injuries (as well as Zion's) in the playoffs were the last memories of him for us.

no one is giving up a lottery pick for Ingram

No we been arguing about his style of play and fit for a couple seasons now. And have suggested trading him for a while. This isn’t some recent memory bias bullshite you think this board is doing.
You’re overvaluing BI and the danger in that if your Griff is you end up keeping him because you don’t like what the market is giving you.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to trade him for a few years now. He’s an inefficient, injury prone player with an antiquated game. SFP is just looking at stats and not realizing the context. There’s plenty of players who can put up big numbers but they don’t produce wins. BI is one of those players.

BI, Kyle Kuzma, Jerami Grant - good numbers that don't help you win.

I'm not sure Sheppard ever gets to where CJ is offensively, and I don't think he's that great of a defender either. I still think he'll be a really solid player in the league, but I couldn't imagine taking him with a top 5 pick

haha i would agree.
There's two ways of looking at a particular position, obviously offensively and defensively.
To me, and this is just me, your position is more closely related to who you can defend.
If you're 6'3" and under, youre a "PG". Unless you're really strong with a long wingspan like Dort, you are a mismatch for everyone on the court but PG's.
When you pose the question, what is the definition of a PG, I'd say CP3 or Haliburton, and those guys are becoming less and less frequent.
Everyone else who is tops in the league in assists are scorers first.
I think there are a few guys who could be more of a PG first scorer second like VanVleet and Dejounte Murray, but that's really b/c they aren't as good of a scorer than say Jamal Murray or Fox or SGA. I think Josh Giddey could maybe become a PG on the right team as well. Josh Giddey is really struggling off the ball with SGA. I think he needs the ball to be effective, but I also think he needs a good supporting cast with him b/c he's not a good scorer. and no i don't want Giddey.
I don't like VanVleet's $42M/yr, or his 15% trade bonus, but i would not be upset if we sent BI to Houston for VanVleet and stuff

This draft is Trash, we'd be doing them a favor. The number one pick will have a more likely chance of being just a starter and hopefully maybe an all star appearance on the high end
It's not like we'd be paying for #1 the same amount a team would have paid to trade for #1 in, say, the Zion draft.

It’s like a bet on draft kings or fanduel where you could see early on it probably isn’t going to pan out but you stubbornly refused to cash out to only take a small loss. Now it’s the start of the 4th quarter and the cash out option is about a $1.82. We waited too long, BI is further exposed as a flawed player that misses a lot of time, and everyone knows we don’t want to extend him. Seems unlikely there’s a deal that looks like a win on day one.
