Who's this Pels Talk?

Some dipshit fan that started the account because Pels bloggers "are too negative".

The person tweets like Magic Johnson. The most obvious shite it is almost funny. Or autistic.

This person has no connections or inside information whatsoever. They are simply playing the odds here.

They may not even be doing that. With a name like Pels Talk it makes me think he has ambitions for it to potentially be more than a personal account. A jersey give away, what happens if he's wrong, is probably well worth all of the attention he's getting here.

In the 11th hour, Griff will start competing against himself and throw in better picks and players, in a market where playable players are getting handed over for a pack of skittles.

Well, whatever, it is a new twitter account that was created by fan who thought that the coverage around the team was too negative.

At first I thought it might be someone like GOP, but GOP is smart and the person running this really does not appear to be.

It seriously reads like Magic Johnson is writing it. I still follow it though because I'll take any Pels coverage that doesn't get political like 90% of these bloggers.

Hart Sato doesn’t get you CJ though I don’t even think it gets you Fox
then again idk if anyone thought Bledsoe a second rounder and Keon Johnson would get you Norm Powell and RoCo

Also CJ liked a Brandon Ingram highlight post from yesterdays game on swishcultures Instagram. 99% chance it means absolutely nothing but where’s the fun in that

Maybe the Blazers are trying to move salary so that they can be players in FA this offseason for some reason. If we were to get CJ for say Hart/Sato/NAW/1st or less, then that's the only explanation I can think of as to why they'd be doing this right now.
If they did that deal, they'd be sitting somewhere around $90M in salaries for next year, which still wouldn't get them close to a max salary slot to go after anyone, unless they let Josh Hart go, but even then, they'd still need to send players out to go after Harden, if that's what their grand plan is, to sign James Harden in the offseason. His max salary is going to be $46.5M, so i'm not sure how they'd make it work.

Blazers are a bit confounding at the moment so I genuinely am not sure what they may do at this point with CJ.

If you are going to make it work with Lillard you cant just be shedding salary for little return ala Norm. And getting rid of Norm over one of CJ/Simons makes little sense in that context. Unless it was to bring back a bigger wing...which they didnt. And with Simons/McCollum about to take up so much salary, you aren't changing up the core issue the team has had which is lack of perimeter defense and wing play.

Needless to say, I dont know what the frick the new Portland regime is doing anymore.

If there is any truth to this, it almost feels as if the Pels and Blazers are dug in. There seem to be a lot of McCollum rumors today (Knicks and Hawks are now very interested) which may be the Blazers trying to get the Pelicans' offer higher. Griffin may be waiting until tomorrow to see if the Blazers accept his offer or he moves on to plan B. I just hope plan B is not Gordon. Could it be Barnes?

Thanks, lol. And I don't really think that the coverage is too negative right now. Everyone is talking about Herb, Ingram, and Jose (and rightly so), and we are a growing national positive story at the moment.

I definitely thought that it was too negative when people were hyping the idiotic piano story, saying that Zion was about to ask for a trade, and Gayle should sell the team or just move it herself to Seattle.

I honestly couldn't conceive of a worse group of "insiders" then the Pelicans have. Zion is a top 15 player in the NBA and our reporting is the equivalent of finding big foot. If this was happening with Luka or Giannis, their media would be pounding the team for updates.

I mean this is kinda what happens when local journalism dies.

Reporting is left up to the one or two underpaid or contract journalists in a hyper downsized company(when the Advocate acquired Picayune they laid off 160 people and rehired like 10-20), token "sports" guys on local TV, team affiliated "reporters"(who are loyal to the team, not the public), and amateur bloggers.

Makes me think its a much smaller trade, like Huerter, Hield or Fournier or Gordon in a swap + salary filler, but we will see.

This is what I’m also thinking. Plus the market has kinda been set this trade deadline with the Powell and Lavert deals. So hopefully Griff doesn’t get raped.

I think they just wanted to reset the luxury tax, which I’m pretty sure this deal did for them. CJ might get traded but I doubt they give him up cheap

If there are multiple bidders for CJ, I hope to King Cake Baby we take a pass. Hopefully we'll be a $$ filler in a 3 way trade and can land us a Huerter/Holiday tier player.

If Griff could turn the Lonzo deal into Graham AND whoever we trade Sato for, it would sit a lot better with me.

Bronc was right; Lonzo >> Graham. I think I may like Graham for the team chemistry more, though.

My whole thing was never Lonzo is better than Graham(Though he is), it was that it could/should have been Lonzo + Graham.

Retain the asset in Lonzo and move him when the oppurtunity arises. Which, Lonzo for McCollum or Simons would sort of be the type of move I was talking about.

Lonzo didnt have to be your forever guy, but even at 20 mil and an injury, teams would still love his production and fits in with a lot of rosters.

In a world where we matched, Lonzo for McCollum or Simons would be an easy sell for Portland. Replace McCollum with the 3 and D guard they've always needed for 10 million less a year

Lonzo is definitely better than Graham. Did people honestly think any differently? The financial flexibility was part of the reasoning why we made that “trade”
