Separate moves for Hawkins and/or Poole must be coming.

How stupid was it to pickup Hawkins option

Pels get Benn Mathurin, Daniel Gafford
Mavs get Jordan Poole, Johni Broome
Clips get Caleb Martin, Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy

Waive Karlo (I know I hate that too) and then Houstan and Bufkin make team

We are not waiving Karlo to give Bufkin a spot after acquiring Mathurin. Its more likely the team sending us a C wants Karlo back in this scenario.

Even gaining Gafford we still can't afford to lose any Big depth. We are way too thin there

Not great if true but i'll hold my breathe considering the initial rumors for Mathurin included Herb. Any Pels trade rumor will surely have us giving up extra assets or losing the trade.

I mean it is the standard right now under this CBA that teams are giving up something to dump a contract even if its an expiring. Expirings just aren't what they were, and teams are handing out 2nd like candy

The problem is we are light on 2nds

We have 3* and potentially 4.

Fair, but I know we don't have any in 28 or 29, and I think the two after that are effected by swaps or something (teams don't care as much about that however)

'27- no 2nd or from another team.
'31- ORL swap
'32- 2nd
'33- 2nd

Fortunately we have all 3 of our most valuable 2nds even though that doesn't mean much. Doesn't really matter honestly, you can have 0 2nds and end up with 5 in 1 offseason.

We should have a 1 year plan right now with a clear rebuild path on the back end... Trade a protected '28 1st for a Center and see how competitive this team is.

If it doesn't work then you blow it up, have a good '27 pick, and recoup '28 with trades among a plethora of other picks.

He’s a good player but we still need a legit C. Plus, how many minutes will he play when there’s Trey, Herb, Bey, and maybe even Poole in the rotation?!?!

We have too many guys on the roster currently, there’s most certainly a trade coming

I'm curious what kind of minutes we promised Mathurin to sign here like that.

I can’t believe we are signing an actual NBA player

1) on a good contract
2) by his own free will

Idk if my math is correct but trading Poole for Turner should get us under the tax

It would be close. I think Poole+ Peavy would make it happen. In that scenario you keep Hawk/ 2nds and have to send a protected 1st.

The Watford signing tells me Peavy could be on the move.

25+. I'm sure he'll start about 30 games too depending on injuries. Right now I think he's our 7th best player, after Bey, and before Jones and Missi. It's a necessary pickup. He can shoot, which we needed desperately. Hopefully this pushes Poole and we get something out of him..
