That was referencing Trey

The other asset was Herb

At $15-20M per year, the only plan Mathuring would be a part of is the plan a year from now where we try to figure out how to dump his salary, like Poole right now

Do those things sound like a bad addition?

They don't...if he's on a rookie contract only

What does the Knicks have to do with us? are we on their level? What would be different with Jose on the roster? “Albeit Minimal” he averaged less than 10 minutes on the Knicks.

Are you under the impression that role players, and especially bench role players, are supposed to play big minutes on a team. Your posts essentially place blame on Jose for the Pels only winning 50 games in two years. That’s simply asinine. I don’t know how you can argue Jose didn’t fulfill his role on the Pelicans. He absolutely did. It’s not his fault Zion has been a bust, Ingram simply isn’t a number one or two in this league, Griffin squandered a number of huge assets in his time here, Willie Green was a disaster as head coach, Dumars is incompetent, etc., etc. As a poster pointed out I’m even ok with the Pels doing right by Jose; but let’s not pretend we got anything of value for him. I’ve never opposed trading Jose, but thought he could have been used as a piece or part of a bigger trade because he has value in this league on a winning team, which again was evidenced by his role with the Knicks.

No, I’m asking what were we supposed to get in a Jose deal for a guy who plays minimal minutes? Where did I blame Jose? I agree he fulfilled his purpose but I’m saying what are we accomplishing with him on the roster. You can make an argument on compensation but you’re just not getting a lot for Jose. What was a guy who was about to be a free agent supposed to net in a trade. With Jose our record was 10-31. Without him we went 16-25. So what’s the uproar over Jose.

He had a player option. He was likely always going into the market this offseason to secure a longer deal. He wasn't going to get it from the Pelicans.

So 2 2nds vs letting him walk which is the better option

Most likely route is trading Hawkins and 2nds to the Grizzlies to offer Mathurin the full MLE. Clippers match or decline. Bey and Herb would not be traded.

They for sure have to dump Hawkins which would take at least 2 2nds, which they don't have many of

Anyone else, like Poole, would take 1st(s)

Zion is the reason we suck.
Not Jose
Not Herb
Not Trey
Not Fears
Not DQ
Not Missi
Zion is supposed to be the superstar.
Swap Zion with every single first pick after him, except Rissacher, and we are a 50 win team. .

Unless they’re hoping they can eventually talk Milwaukee into swapping Turner for Poole’s expiring, that would open up enough to offer almost a full MLE if not a full one.

Maybe those weren’t the only two options?? And let’s be clear, we got last year the 58th pick in the draft (and next year is likely the same); and more than likely the guy we picked could have been signed as an undrafted free agent if we didn’t have the pick.

Did someone have a gun to our head forcing us to trade him?

Exactly so why is trading Jose for 2 2nds causing this much uproar. If you said Zion should take his health and his craft seriously, I wouldn’t dispute that. Jose is irrelevant if the main guys aren’t doing what they are supposed to do. Brunson made shots, mikal played elite defense, OG had that tip in, KAT made clutch baskets. The main guys did their part.

We won less than 50 games the past 2 seasons. Jose was on the team. He “contributed” to that. I’m not saying “Jose is the reason we lost all them games” the main reason is (star players not being star players). If we were winning, then I’d get your point. It’s obvious Jose had more value on a Finals team. Then a team that won less that 50 games the past 2 years

He had a player option for the 2026-2027 season. Let him walk or get something.

Or give him an extension before the season starts.

Maybe Jose told them he was going to look elsewhere so they knew they had to move him. That's what I hope happened.
