How the frick will GS field a team with the salaries of Zion, Steph, Jimmy, and Draymond?

Hell, assume they ship Dray out and you still have about $150m or so tied up in three players.

We're not trading Zion for Kuminga. That's the dumbest take I've read in awhile.

Why is it dumb? People around here act like Z has no trade value. I just illustrated a scenario where he may actually have some value and then it's not enough value, even if it leads to us keeping Herb, Trey and replacing him with a younger, healthier, less paint reliant, more competitively seasoned player.

The value is you keep your hard working, reliable players, you add another one and you saddle a competitor with a piece of shite that will be out of the league in 4 years or less.

1) Joe Dumars sent Zion to the draft lottery to emphasize that he is the face of the franchise. We publicly recommitted to Zion, for now.

2) If Zion were going to be traded, it wouldn't be secret. Dumars would want the whole league to know and make their best offers. I shouldn't have to say that Zion isn't Luka, and there is no reason that we'd be keeping it quiet.

3) Trading Zion now is completely at odds with the other moves Dumars has made this off-season. We aren't tearing it up and doing a full rebuild.

some value

That degree of 'value' is so useless. You may as well gamble with him on this team.

Kuminga isn't as valuable as people are thinking. He'll be 23, he hasn't proven to be a full time starter. He's a tweener, too small for a true 4 and inconsistent shooting to be a wing. He's a bad free throw shooter that's a good slasher and defender.

That's not a 30mil player. That's less valuable than Murphy and while he's young and had moments, that's not who you're selling your "star" for

The Kings, in turn, would send Monk to the Pistons, and second-year NBA guard Devin Carter and newly acquired big man Dario Šaric to the Warriors, the source said.

The Kings parting ways with Monk has been the most likely scenario this offseason, two sources told NBC Sports California. Sacramento also would send two second-rounders to Golden State, the source said.

And people were thinking we would trade Herb for him lol.

Monk came to Sacramento to play with his good buddy DaAron Fox. They played together at Kentucky. Once Fox was traded, Monk needed to be off the roster.

Because if the plan is to trade him and start over, we just need him to be healthy for half a season and his value is multiple 1sts and young players. I realize he is often injured, but you risk it for that kind of return.

Not sure where you are going with that. Just explaining the situation.

With the Shamit article in mind, I wonder if teams are suggesting the Pelicans are interested to drive up the asking price. "You may want to get it done now, the Pelicans may go full retard at any moment!"

I completely disagree here. None of the players acquired this year are ideal fits with Zion, and Zion requires ideal fits.

I probably didn’t mean “needed”

Monk wants out of Sacramento. He signed there originally and resigned at a somewhat discount because of Fox. That’s all I meant. They are trying to part ways.

How is Jordan Poole a bad fit with Zion? He shot 38% from 3 last season. And Poole is the only guy we acquired to be a starter this season.

He's a 34% 3p shooter. He's also ball-dominant and poor defensively, like Zion.
