I’ve got to be honest, I think I’ve really come around on the idea of Bojan. Watching highlights(terrible idea I know), looking at the numbers, looking at the extension (not a rental and a largely not guaranteed last year), continuing to see BI out, knowing our need for outside shooting, and maybe getting out of Grahams deal too. It could make a lot of sense.
Listening to some NBA stuff this morning and just realizing that championship windows can close real fast. And the west is wide open. I think I want to go for it.
We can argue over which pick, but is a top ten protected Lakers 2023 pick that turns into a an unprotected or very minimally protected Pels 2024 first really going to hurt us that bad?

Yeah, Bojan would definitely make us a better team.
My preference for rumored trade targets
OG
Bojan
GTJ (only due to expiring, if he would agree on ~20 mil extension he jumps Bojan)

Beasley
Bojan
OG
That's the order for me.

I don’t think Beasley has been rumored for us outside of fans mentioning him, or did I miss a report?
OG is my top target because he’s like taking Herb’s defense and putting it into Trey’s body, pretty much the ideal player we need.

I think Bojan might be tops for me right now, as a high end possible difference maker that is also attainable.
Beasley is a tough one for me. This and last year less than 40% from the field, 37.7 and 35.5% from three. He sort of fits the prototype of what I think we need, a movement shooter. But if his role is to shoot, I need that guy that was approaching 40%. He’s an improvement on Graham, so I wouldn’t be mad.
And the thing with OG is true availability, the cost, the ability to retain financially, and I hate to say it but he may be a bit overrated. Not that he doesn’t defend or can’t shoot. But if you really watch him play, he can be a bit of a ball stopper on offense. His passing is lacking and he just doesn’t have the best feel for the game. Which I think would drive us nuts with Zion and BI on the roster.

quote:I think you're technically correct but he plays for Utah, so I'm of the opinion that he will be available before the deadline lol.

My list wasn't ranked as 3 best players, but more so 3 best fits plus potential values we can get coming back in a trade.

I think we could get him for Herb and 3 picks basically (Graham and Jax for salary), and we should be able to protect the 23 pick top 2.
It’s a steep price, but it’s a move that should immediately make us the favorites to come out of the west. We also have him under contract for next season, and if he gives any indications that he will want more than we are willing to pay him on a new deal, then we could trade him again and recoup some of those lost assets

ESPN's Bobby Marks has a trade deadline article out, with outlooks and suggested trades for every team in the West. This was his idea:
quote:
Trade we would like to see: Temple, Hayes and a top-10-protected first in 2024 to Utah for Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson has a player option and re-signing him likely puts the Pelicans into the luxury tax next season. But the risk of losing Clarkson in free agency could be warranted if he helps New Orleans to a deep playoff run.

Hell naw, Clarkson wouldn’t fit with us, I’d rather keep Graham in his role.

I really don't like looking at that crackhead looking dude

I dont understand why clarkson has value. He's an inefficient chucker, never been a good shooter only average at best, terrible defender and not a playmaker.

I would probably be irrationally angry if we added Clarkson.

For 2024, we have our own pick but can swap with MIL. We also have the Lakers, but we can defer that to 2025.
If we trade our own pick in 2024, does that just eliminate that swap option or does it follow to the team we traded our pick to? Could we also theoretically already decide which Laker's pick we want and trade it (not that we would want to).
